At that time despite all warning signs, the West pretended that nothing was happening and Donald Trump even promised the criminal gang of the Kremlin that he would dismantle NATO...

The "useful idiots" of the West, driven by the greed for profit, continue to invest in the economy controlled by the CCP communist regime, but D.Trump & Co. wants to dismantle the Western collective security system - NATO, leaving the USA alone with the growing military threat created by the Chinese Communists...

March 1949 deportations remembered in Latvia

On March 25 the Baltic countries remember the victims of the 1949 mass deportations, during which over 42,000 Latvian residents (2% of the pre-war population) were deported to labor camps, or gulags, in Siberia.

(..)There were two main waves of deportations, the first in June 1941 followed by a second in March 1949.The deportation strategy sprang at least in part from the Soviet Union's inability to erase memories of the independent and prosperous Baltic states of the inter-war years. There was continued resistance from the national partisans, or “forest brothers”, and the deportations were supposedly targeted at supporters of continued resistance, farmers unimpressed by the Soviet system of collectivized farming and anyone suspected of being an intellectual or disloyal follower of Communism, but given the huge scale of deportations, it was not necessary to have done anything at all to become a deportee overnight. Women and children under 16 years of age constituted 73% of the deportees.  Altogether 30,620 families and 94,799 people were deported from the three Baltic States. In the resolution, Italian senators noted that in 1932-1933, the USSR, led by Joseph Stalin, "deliberately provoked famine, which caused millions of deaths, mainly peasants and small landowners", among the civilian population of Ukraine.

"The memory of the Holodomor and Soviet[Russian] crimes against the Ukrainian people is becoming even more important today in the light of the Russian invasion and a new attempt to erase Ukrainian national identity", the document writes(..)

P.S. Very good news! However, I have only one question: Why so late? The crimes of mass repressions committed by the Soviet Union's communists were known at the time they were committed, but the rest of the world remained silent and pretended that nothing was happening...!

Even during the Cold War, Western politicians did business with the Soviet Union... Look at how easily the Soviet regime obtained the Zhiguli/Lada production technology and then promoted the economic achievements of the repressive Soviet regime to the world by selling the Lada...

In essence, the West saved the Soviet Union's economy from total collapse all along...
