In the famous program TED Under title, Islamophobia killed my brother. Let's end the hate. Doctor Suzanne Barakat had shared her brother's Deah story. How Deah, his wife Yusor and Yusor's sister Razan were murdered by their neighbor in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Back to February 10, 2015, in North Carolina, Suzanne Barakat's brother Deah, her sister-in-law Yusor and Yusor's sister Razan were killed in their home by their neighbor.
After the perpetrator turned himself in the police shortly after the murders said he killed three kids over a parking dispute. the police issued a premature public statement that morning without bothering to question him.
Barakat recognized the shooting for what it was -- a hate crime. Besides that her family had considered what happened was a terrorist attack.
Therefore, she decided to share her brother's real story with everyone and to let them know how it is danger Judging on others without knowing anything about them.
Just because of their religion or nationality or even because of a piece of clothes they chose to put on their head.
moreover, she had sent a Facebook message to everyone she knows in media. and her neighbor Neal had Assisted her to set up a press conference at a local community center.

Also, she gave an interview with CNN. Many major newspapers including the New York Times had published stories about Deah Yusor and Razan allowing them to reclaim the narrative and call attention to the mainstreaming of anti-Muslim hate.
As she reflects on how she and her family reclaimed control of their narrative.
Barakat calls on us to speak up when we witness hateful bigotry and express our allyship with those who face discrimination.

It worth to mention Barakat had chosen to participate in this program not just to share her
brother's story with the audience but also for her belief TED is the appropriate platform to
discuss racism issues.
