Right now, my Mom and Dad are watching Pippin, so... it's time for daddy to take a bathtub rosé break. I've decided to go for the 2014 Pinot Noir Rosé from @westportrivers, in the Southeastern New England AVA. @djp.roject got this bottle for me an age ago. This rosé is technically a blend: 92% Pinot Noir, and 8% Pinot Meunier, all grown on their estate. This 2014 vintage has held it's color amazingly well; a vibrant watermelon pink hue is pleasing to the eye. The nose is still fresh and vibrant: aromas of rosehip, strawberry, apple, over-ripe apricot, and forest floor flow from the glass. On the palate, this full-bodied, medium-acidity rosé shows notes of strawberry, cherry, pear, apple, apricot, and nutmeg, with just a hint of seasalt. The finish lingers luxuriously in the mouth for almost 30 seconds. Pair this wine with, uh, well, a relaxing bubble bath with a bath bomb. Or, fine, a charcuterie plate focused on spreadable goat cheeses and cheeses with a salty edge. A grilled cheese sandwich with bacon should also work nicely. The 2012 Pinot Noir Rosé is a nice gem from a place where not many folks think of wine coming from. There's local wine near you somewhere. You just have to look.
