Not really. Since I'm a massage therapist I don't usually wear make up at work. I tend to sweat during massages so I rather not deal with it getting all messed up. As for nail polish it could flake off and chip easily due to the constant use of lotion and oils so it's also not something I wear often if at all.
Some creepy guy: I would like to book a session with you in a motel room for 60 minutes.
Me: Do you not live in the area? I'm not comfortable going to a motel room alone as a single woman.
Creep: Well my wife doesn't like me getting massages at the house.
Me: I'm sorry to hear that your wife doesn't like that but I'm not comfortable in this situation due to past issues. You may book an appointment at my office location once we reopen in May. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Creep: *Proceeds to send a selfie and continues harrassing me for a massage in a motel room*

I've learned that more in the following years than ever before as a single woman who does outcalls for clie t who can't always leave their house. So please stay safe and treat your therapy providers nicely. We deal with this more than you think

I am so sick of this one client canceling on me with less than 24hrs notice. Like...half of his appointments he's had some excuse. His wife and daughter come to see me. Thankfully a few times they have been able to come in early to cover the huge gap, since they were already booked after him. But this is getting ridiculous. I think I'm going to make him pay 1/2 upfront before I schedule him again from now on until he gets his shit together
I love how the bigger independent spas in the area I've seen who are reopening friday are not sharing their increase safety and cleaning procedures. They completely ignore me reaching out to them to discuss it. It's really frustrating and they will be the ones leading to a second reclosure in a few weeks.
Long day and late night. Met a horrible new client that I hope ends up having to cancel his next appointment and also never comes back bc wtf dude! I'm talking mainly career stuff here but I also believe this in some aspects of spirituality and energy work too.
My boss is putting together a ceu massage class on his total body stretch technique and was telling me about it and something he said rubbed me the wrong way. (But he says a lot of things that rub me wrong, including calling me baby or sweetheart. Like I get I'm your daughters' ages but dude, no!)
He said that he was putting together everything but not going to tell them everything he knows because he wants to keep some of his skills his own. Like dude! You've been a teacher for like 10 of your 24 years of doing this career. Why the fuck aren't you sharing your knowledge!? Especially to those actually paying for it! The whole point of ceus is to keep therapists more knowledgeable and informed and you are deliberately keeping knowledge away from them?!
As a reiki teacher this rubs me wrong because even those I've not taught, I freely share any and all information with them that I have. It makes for better reiki practitioners! It makes for the more vast spread of informed practitioners! Oh my fucking gods! I just can't understand his thinking here.
It's not like the information he's withholding is sacred or personal, its literally a different stretching technique for them to use on certain clients that the traditional stretching doesn't work for! It's for modifications for injuries or too tight areas! Withholding this could potentially lead to people hurting others.
