This is not a joke. I apologize to post this on April Fools, but I am going on a writing hiatus for April and figured I’d rip the bandaid off now.
I just want to note that my zine work and commissions will not be affected by the hiatus. I still intend to keep my word and finish my pieces. I am not far enough in the burnout to be completely haltered.
Reason in the below section. Please do not reblog and honestly any support would be helpful right now.
I’ll get straight to it. I did a challenge where I was supposed to write something new each week and record my progress.
Except...it wasn’t progress.
This absolutely ended up crushing my confidence as a writer. There were things I did learn that were positive, but the steep decline was just brutal to reflect back on.
There’s a lot of disappointment in myself that I couldn’t complete the challenge, and everything I learned about myself is just brutal. So I ask you be gentle about that.
I have decided to take a long needed break. I have written for three years. It’s sort of about time, honestly.
I will say thank you for those of you who still have read my stories this year. The old and new. All of your kind words, kudos, and comments has kept me going as long as I could. You’re still absolutely welcome to interact with my stories. That’s what they’re there for.
Unfortunately, this progress journal I did make me rethink if doing freelance work full time is actually plausible in where I am in life. To be blunt, it’s probably not. I won’t go into too much detail, but there were some IRL factors that has also come up that I need to address that has influenced this decision that are a little too private for here.
After this hiatus, I am planning on just becoming a part time writer and posting once or twice a month instead of weekly. I hope you can understand and forgive me.
I love to create. I love to write, but I don’t want my head to go up in flames for the sake of getting something done.
During this time, I’ll probably be looking for part time work to get out of the house and focusing on drawing, so I’ll still be active. I just need to move my priorities around.

Throughout the Year Participants! We have a massive announcement. We put it down in the read below.
Due to a number of drop outs, we had to make a bunch of last minute reassignments to keep the exchange going. Due to this, we had to be reasonable and drop the word count for writers to 2k as the minimum so they could still make the deadline. We are asking artists to still have their art coloured in, but a simple background such as just ‘pink’ is now acceptable.
This now applies to everyone. We apologize for the short notice, but in truth, we were not expecting this many reassignments in such a short time frame. You are welcome to go over the word count and do what you'd like with your art, of course. We just had to change the minimum requirements.
The deadline has not changed and the time to drop out has passed unless if something dire has come up (computer breaks, family emergency, etc.)

So we have had some folks question susamaria during the interest check and we decided to remove that ship from the zine. We still do hope you enjoy our project nonetheless without this ship. We’d still love your support and we have checked the others. No more will be removed.
Explanation below.
After the few complaints we got, we decided to see what was going on. Looking into it, we did not know the localization had not aged up Susato in DGS2. In the original translation, she had been 17 in DGS2. We (Mod Ellory) thought this was the same. Maria is 19 in both.
With that being said, we agree that is a bit too iffy and will be omitting that ship from this project since most folks know the localization. Though this isn’t a huge age gap, this would probably fall into adult/minor ships.
For this project, most of the art is going to be around their current ages, so that’s why we decided to omit it. We understand there are three year age gaps in relationships, especially later in life and that’s really not a problem if both are consenting adults.
Either way, we apologize for our oversight again and for possibly making anyone uncomfortable. We will also be removing it from the interest check and the official websites.
We apologize to those who wanted to see it, but please understand our stance. We are not looking to start a ship war or anything like that. You’re welcome to ship what you like, but since this is a mass audience for a zine, we do need to make sure that these things are accounted for.

I didn't tell you guys that I started singing with a virtual band (a very close friend of ours, who's in Bogotá, Colombia right now) a while back. We recorded one cover song which is now going out for mixing and mastering, and I guess they want me to do another song with them too ("they" is just my husband, who is very minimally involved, and his friend, who is like the band leader and plays just about everything).
I'm also supposed to be recording a couple of songs by myself right now that I worked on for a few months.
My voice has gotten a lot better every single month since I started with a new teacher in January. I sound very different. However I still regularly feel like I'm awful because I'm just not where I want to be yet. I think it's been kind of hard having so much focus on technique even though it's helped me a lot. So now I'm trying to maintain that while also focusing on performance again.
AND I didn't tell you guys that I started writing songs a month or two ago. I've been keeping up with more study of music theory, but to be honest I think my biggest strength is a songwriter is just that I have a good ear and I'm familiar with the huge range of types of music. I wrote a song in mixolydian before I learned that scale... My stuff doesn't suck...
And so my throat finally felt recovered like a couple few weeks ago. And then about a week ago one ear became kind of like clogged with fluid or something. It only hurts a little bit but it's pissing me off because I can't hear and it rattles when I sing high notes. Our friend who is an ENT came by and looked at it on Sunday and he said it's nothing serious so I will wait until I see my primary doc in a couple of weeks. It seems likely that I'm having some kind of fluid drainage problems on that side of my head. Apparently it's not unusual to suddenly have that at age 38. 🤷🏻♀️ This could be related to my c-spine being so crooked and unstable. Doesn't help that the osteopath who fixes me up has been on maternity leave for two months.
So in sum I am some combination of doing great and on the struggle bus (am I still allowed to use that term, as a disabled person?). My confidence is still a huge struggle, And I have not made any progress with performance anxiety. But I'm fully vaccinated now (well, I will be after I bake for 2 weeks) so I feel like that has to change soon (or blow up).
