uso ! ;
the minute she rose from the clutches of sleepless abyss, jia knew that they had overslept. she was never an early riser nor was she the type to be overly concerned with being prompt. besides, who the hell worked up at half passed shit o'clock to catch a train in the first place? (zitao, that's who!). but she hard risen from the depths of sleep so quickly, it was like she subconsciously knew she had to be more timely with tao in her party.
her eyes snapped open into reality with no warning. there was no jolt, no fluttering of the eyelids, nothing. one minute everything was black and the next her eyes were wide open and she was alert to the world around her. for a moment, the early morning light was blinding. the rising sun's rays slipped through the blinds of the hotel room, pushing her into a more cognisant state. the weight of tao's arm wrapped around her gave her the indication that he had overslept as well (which was why they weren't up at the ungodly hours to actually catch the damned train in the first place). knowing better than to wake up when they were snuggled up unintentionally like this, she slipped out of the bed and took the liberty to utilise the shower first.
maybe if they got ready quickly, they could actually make it. then again, jia wondered why the hell the amestris train schedule was so erratic to begin with. sometimes trains would be sparse on any weekday but by the next week, the same day could be plentiful with scheduled train rides. besides, one would think there would be more sunday trains scheduled for east city. but apparently god didn't work in their favour, seeing as there was only one scheduled for today. there was no urgency in jia's tone, however, when she finally did rouse tao from his sleep. the fact that she kept calm about 'sleeping in a few minutes more than they were supposed to' kept tao relatively calm (she thinks, at least -- it was either that or he had seen it coming). but the brunette could only hope as they rushed out of the house with their stuff with them, towards the train station.
with a look of utter dismay passing her features, she watched the puff of clouds of the coal-operated locomotive pull away just as they were reaching the entrance of the station. as an automatic reaction, she distanced herself from the male a few steps to ensure he didn't take his frustration out on her (unless there was another, more pleasurable way he'd care to filter that out). the newly recruited state alchemist grinned sheepishly in the other's direction.
"hey, it's not that bad," she tried, giving a shrug of indifference. jia always had been more lax about life than he. 'shit happens,' as she would say as a viable excuse. "it's still early. we can eat breakfast and get there somehow..." she looked off in the direction the train was going. "we can walk along the train's path and get there eventually." 'eventually' being the key word.
