Restarted a new animal crossing save and wanted to draw Master and Crazy's "disguises" (who are they fooling) as villager versions of their beast forms!!
I've noticed you depict it as a separate entity from Master Hand so I'm curious because not a lot of people do that
Master core is a separate entity from master hand because I think master core is essentially the Uja enemy from Kirby squeak squad! In my au they are Master and Crazy's uncle being related on their mom's side of the family (their mothers sibling).
This means core is older which explains all the different magic and abilities they have, like changing forms and why we never see any of those master/crazy duo attacks in ultimate. The master hand in classic is core while the one in orders is the actual master hand, still just recovering from Tabuu. Tabuu greatly weakened him and they needed somebody else and core just happened to show up so.......yeah.
Core and crazy are obviously close due to having similar magic and all that. Core is okay with master but they get off to a bad start with the whole "core pretends to be master as to not worry the fighters while master was recovering, but crazy didn't tell him anything". And of course master is going to be on edge after the whole tabuu thing.
My personal lore and headcanons for the Smash Hands
Inspired by @bananabread108 making a post for her own lore.
Master Hand and Crazy Hand are essentially youngish eldritch gods whose existence is tied to the meta by the nature of them being the link between their world and our own. Much like fellow video game deity Arceus, they were the first things to exist in their universe. Before experimenting and discovering what they could each do, they combined their powers to plant a seed, which became that universe's big bang.
Like many other gods, they did not have best sense of morality at first- the first Smash game/tournament and a half really was them ripping the fighters from their worlds and making them fight for their amusement, with said fighters stuck only knowing to fight until a separate force (aka you, the player) snap one of them out of it. Which is what Smash 64's Classic Mode was. Rinse and repeat for Melee but on a grander scale...ending up with them being overpowered by most of that game's fighters combined. (Though...with how much they hold back, who really knows if they really were overpowered in the end?) Afterwards, they came to an agreement to continue fighting, but on their own terms. Hence, the rest of the Smash tournaments followed suit.
Anyways, onto the actual headcanons:
Things that apply to both of them:
Twins. Master Hand is older by...a few picoseconds. He will rub this in Crazy Hand's face anyway.
Both go by he/him,it/its, and they/them and consider themselves nonbinary.
Look and act like they're in their 30s. Some might try to clock them either 10 years younger or like 20 years older.
Paradoxically so. They feel like they've been around for eons...but who's really to say.
Both are autistic as fuck.
The names they use in Smash were the first names they were ever given, as they didn't have proper names until the fighters suggested the right one be Master Hand. And the left named itself Crazy Hand so they'd match...and also because he thought it sounded edgy.
Ditto for them having human-like forms. It started when Master Hand was invited by one of the fighters to something after Melee was over and felt like he needed to both blend in better and present himself in a way that mortals could comprehend without as much difficulty. Also for curiosity's sake. He wanted to know what it was like.
Their human-like forms are considered aracial.
Said forms started out looking nearly identical, except Crazy Hand had heterochromia. He did this on purpose so he could easily be mistaken for him for shits and giggles. Nowadays, they're a lot easier to tell apart because of the scars they've accumulated and their hair lengths no longer matching.
They wear gloves on both hands in these forms as well. As well as still covering up most skin. ...Mostly for sensory reasons (Master Hand is more sensitive of the two)
That being said, despite this, Master Hand actually has the higher pain tolerance of the two.
Their gloves also conceal something else about their hands (and up to their arms in human form) that most people will never see.
They can shapeshift into more than just human forms. Crazy Hand loves turning into snakes.
Injuries and scars translate themselves between forms...which unfortunately means they could not get piercings in human form unless they want holes in their giant fingers.
Their anatomy in general is...confusing. Nothing like a living being would have. Their 'cores' are essentially both heart and mind in an odd sense.
Alcohol and other recreational drugs do not affect them. Master Hand is scared to find out what would happen if they do get blasted by something strong enough to do so.
Both consider themselves aroace and have no interest in romance or dating.
They also have...not the best relationship with most other gods. When they learned empathy and compassion and had proper morals, they could easily tell how bs some gods having chosen ones be children was. Among other things.
Both of them hate cults. Once had to snuff out one that formed in the main world they inhabit-aka, the one Smash largely takes place in (cuz yeah, of course that shit will happen when you don't pay attention to the natural populace)
Love training together both to better hone their skills and to come up with potential tag team attacks. They're both really proud of what they came with for Ultimate.
Are not fully of light or darkness, despite what many may think. Their connection to Galeem and Dharkon is also not what many may think.
Have joint ownership of the three Nintendogs, who of the former two now work as therapy dogs. Ultimate's...is a bit too bitey for them to consider training it to be one.
Can fuse together Steven Universe Gem style. The fusion is named Architect and exclusively goes by they/them pronouns.
Master Hand Only:
God of creation. Can easily spawn anything he knows the makeup of in a few seconds. Can also loophole this to destroy by turning the atoms of something into the makeup of the surrounding air.
Will get starry-eyed with certain things that involve creation. Especially if it occurs in nature.
This includes babies of any kind. Because holy shit, someone made this?! Will start crying if asked to hold someone's young kid.
That being said, he is good with kids...but will internally panic a bit if a real young kid starts crying.
Is accidentally the father figure to all the younger fighters because of this. And he doesn't even realize. He'll parent some of the older fighters too without realizing the implications.
More of a dog person out of the two of them. Despite this, only one of the three Nintendogs prefer him over Crazy Hand.
Also loves fireflies, and many other creatures that have interesting anatomy.
Has ptsd and chronic pain from what happened to him in Subspace. It took a long time for him to acknowledge it. Even so, it was him accidentally injuring Crazy hand during a test fight and Crazy yelling at him that made him realize how bad he was doing.
Goes to therapy because of this (and because otherwise, Crazy would have literally dragged him there) and is now an advocate for mental health.
When he finds a topic or subject that interests him, he will research every possible aspect of it he can find. ...This includes mental health.
Unironically likes Bluey, among other kids shows. They're good shows, dammit.
If he needed to fight in human form, he would dual wield sabres that look similar to the Master Edges form of Master Core. Named them Spring and Storm. ...This may be the reason so many sword-users are in Smash. He likes swords, okay!?
Speaking of, Master Core happened because of bottled up stress from the ptsd finally blowing up in his face. The Swarm part of the boss is literally those sorts of distressing feelings given form. The Core part is...literal.
Has since been able to better control how he is when in this form so he could use it in a fight if needed. Just...has to control himself expertly.
Also sometimes uses a cane or leg braces (the latter usually concealed by his pants) occasionally because of the chronic pain. Subspace fucked up his joints. He had to get over a lot of internalized ableism first though.
Still has the scars from the Chains of Light. These scars in human form are on the back of his lower neck, elbows, back of the knees, and lower spine. He knows these injuries would've wayy worse if he really were human.
Also has a few more minor scars on his face from the fight that led to him being stabbed and put under someone's control.
Tried using facial hair in his human form when experimenting with it. Ended up hating the feeling of it.
Nicknamed Mas for when people want to address him casually and not sound like he's their...y'know.
Will give others nicknames if he cares about them, like calling Palutena 'Tena', calling any of the kids 'kiddo', or even calling Meta Knight 'Honorable Knight'...whether that one's accurate or not.
Will use full name and title when pissed at someone.
Can detach and make copies of his hands while in human form, in a similar way to his Finger Bullet move.
Has a human name he picked out. But uses it very infrequently. Only really when trying to lay low on who he is.
That being said, is convinced most people don't know he's the Announcer, since he treats it as a character he's playing as. Many people have figured out despite his efforts.
Is the heavier sleeper out of the two of them.
Is besties with Peach, has a kind of sibling-like bond with Palutena, and is close with R.O.B., who is essentially a roommate now.
Is sort of squeamish, hence why there's no blood in official Smash. He's able to look at it, of course- not like he'll freak out or be actually afraid. But would still rather not have to see it every time a certain Phantom Thief used his Final Smash.
...Was tricked by another god (afterall, not all gods have a strained relationship with them) into building a fucking cybertruck. He got so into building that he didn't even realize. Feels like he committed a grave crime from this.
Crazy Hand only:
God of destruction. Can destroy the very atoms of something. Loopholes this when creating by destroying the nothingness of something. And yes, it is as hard as it sounds for him.
Gets starry-eyed for something natural that decomposes and the things that contribute to this. Like mushrooms and certain insects like isopods.
Loves to tease Mas over his accidental parenting of all the kids. Thinks its hilarious.
Is more neutral to kids in general.
Hell, he's mostly neutral on most of the fighters. Cares about them because his sibling cares about them.
If he cares about you, you will know it. And you will cherish that friendship.
Low-empathy haver. Also sucks at talking to people in general.
Also has tourettes, which is why he's shown to be so 'twitchy' in battle, as the tics get more noticeable when he's fired up or anxious.
Can theoretically use his own Master Core-like form. But it's released differently. Instead of high emotional distress causing it to come out, it would come out if he attains a tranquil fury-like state. Essentially the opposite way as he usually does, just like how it was for Mas.
Doesn't have full blown ptsd from Subspace, but definitely still has some trauma surrounding it. Not only from thinking he was stuck with his sibling comatose when he was recovering...but also because he blames himself for what happened.
Subspace happened right after they got into a huge argument over Master Hand being too controlling and brushing him off in favor of the fighters they had only recently allied themselves with. Tabuu, who didn't even know he existed since he barely showed up in official fights, contacted Mas with a bluff of a threat. One that Crazy could easily tell was fake...he was not listened to because Mas assumed he just didn't care about the others. They both think what they did that day and how they treated each other was stupid.
Speaking of, Palutena helped him treat Mas's wounds after he got him the fuck out of there.
Incredibly clingy because of Subspace as well. Master Hand surprisingly doesn't mind this.
Can stretch his arms to a ridiculous degree, similarly to his Finger Extend (yes that's what the wiki called it) move. Claims he did it first before ARMS came out..even though he only started doing this Ultimate, a year after ARMS came out.
Has a giant scar over his left eye from the Master Core incident. That eye almost didn't come back because he was too stressed over Master Hand's situation to properly rest.
His heterochromia includes one light purple eye (like that one move in Ultimate) and he switches which eye is the purple one to fuck with people.
Nicknamed Craz to go with Mas.
Didn't realize what the word crazy meant when he named himself Crazy Hand. Feels bad for accidentally being a stigmatizing stereotype, but also doesn't want to change his brand.
The newer two Nintendogs love him. While Mas named his golden retriever Cassius, he named the french bulldog Silly Goose, because she really is just that silly <3. He also named the toy poodle......Brachioradialis. After the muscle it once bit Mas on. (Don't worry, it didn't hurt.)
If necessary, uses a scythe as a weapon while in human form. Loves playing the part of grim reaper when it comes to er, punishing those who deserve it. Named the scythe Hunter's Moon.
Can get really scary when punishing some fucker. Think Alucard from Hellsing. Like both the actual show and abridged version.
Is like, the opposite of squeamish. Will intentionally learn about 'gruesome' things because he finds them interesting. Will also fuck with Master Hand by holding something...dismembered just to see his reaction. Even though he will get punched for this.
Mas also whacks him with his cane. Craz calls it the Cane Instinct and it makes him laugh every time he says it. (Normally, they would never attack each other enough to injure. Some hits are allowed)
Knows at least a thousand different ways to kill. Both quickly and as long as drawn out as possible. Unlike Mas, who claims this too, he will actually use every single method should he have to.
Once played 'bomb tennis' with someone equally durable and impulsive. The same person once also accidentally decapitated him...long story (don't worry, it came back...obviously).
Is the one out of the two of them more willing to wear skirts. Is comfortable with this and still identifies as masc leaning.
Loves April Fools Day.
Speaking of, he once got into a prank with Master Hand that started with Mas getting duct taped to a wall in their room while he was asleep...and ended with the same sibling somehow getting duct taped to the sun. Craz was bummed it ended but like how could you top that?
A different close one was also in a much shorter prank war that ended with him getting clipped out of bounds of the world with them. The friend won this time.
Plays video games like it's Monster Factory. Mas will happily watch whatever fuckshit he decides to cause.
Loves chilling on Mas or someone else close enough as a small animal. Like hiding in his shirt pocket or pretending to be a necklace as a snake.
Once impulsively fell off a motorcycle on purpose because the experience was giving him sensory overload.
Fully predicted the fact that Arceus would eventually canonically isekai some poor kid.
Hates being seen as an idiot. As many people assume he's 'too crazy to think straight' because of how he acts in a fight....despite many of those movies being cleverly used in a way that throws a player off guard.
Likes giving others silly nicknames like calling Palutena 'Night Light' or Lucas 'Psyflower'.
Aaaaand probably a bunch of other stuff that wouldn't potentially spoil any future if I let the information be known...
I swear, one day I will reveal art of what they look like too...
Most of my lore has gone in chronllogical lrder or has been ties to art. This ceases temporarily for now. Why? Because I've been think about Master Core.
-Favoring the European trophy description, Master Core is simply the core of Master Hand. However, this core is what we would call underdeveloped. Master Hand(and Crazy Hand by extension) isn't a fully grown god yet, so all Master Core can do really is summon it's own version of Tabuu's off-waves.
-The swarm, however, is me favoring the NA trophy description. The swarm is a swarm of shadow bugs Master Hand has been experimenting on to interface with his core, Something that isn't that new to him since he made Mr. Game & Watch out of these bugs. Due to the interfacing, the swarm can take any form he likes.
-Though, the organs in Master Fortress is not a result of Master Core taking any form he wishes, but just a bigger version of the seperate experiments he's been doing on himself. Remember, embodiments like Master Hand or Crazy Hand or Galeem don't have biology and aren't 8 characteristics of life compliant. They are supposed to be closer to rocks than anything living.
-Why was Master Core and the Swarm unleashed? Well, there are a lot of excuses that Master Hand would like to make. If he was just afraid of losing control again, he could be sympathized with. If he was just being evil, it would'nt be a surprise. If he was just testing them, it would be a misunderstanding. But he didn't do it for any of that. It is less easy to explain it just being a want to show off, so to speak. A want to break free from what was mortal and moral for a second to seem impressive. Look how that went. It's been hard to deal with what happened last tournament, and he's been quite literally haunted by it ever since, so it has been easy to slip back into old habits without reason.
-But still, that means after clearing his head and trying to understand himself for once, Master Hand can get to the point where he can unleash to form in a more stable manner, without scaring the shit out of people. (This is why Galeem had to remove his Core in general much later. Galeem vs Master Core was looking a little too close for the light bulb).
-Master Core is Master Hand, so he inherits a lot of Master Hand's battle tendencies. Master Core seems like a chivalrous fighter, respecting rest, surrender, and his own defeat. However, that is only partially true. He isn't above sillier things, mimicking soun effects, taunting, and general things that should destroy his menace. Apparently it does not, as threatening to turn someone's skin into a designer bag is a bit much, or eating them alive, or exposing them to toxic levels of radiation.
-... this is the first time the fighters get this much insight on what the Hands are. And although it's all good in the end, it is still a bit concerning on what they could be if they aren't even adults yet by godly standards.
-While Master Core has two human designs due to his blade form splitting him in two, I have not shown you what Master Core looks like without the swarm. There is a reason for that, and that reason is that it's more relevant to WOL.
-Master Core's designs focus more on elegance due to them being a result of Master Hand loving drama.
-Crazy Hand was scared of Master Core because to his, his brother has suddenly been torn apart by flies leaking something they don't have. Outside of in general being a bit of a coward, that is a sight no one would stick around for.
-It feels hard to describe Master Hand's reasons for the incident because his reasoning is a result of him not being human. It is a result of his cruel nature, so to speak, while lacking in any traditional evil of his species.
I might write more later. Be safe, wherever you are.
Well the intent for this drawing was Master Giant specifically cut in half and spilling his guts but it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to so TW for eyestrain and attempted gore
