This is my monthly reminder to you all
READ CHICAGOLAND VAMPIRES FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. I NEED FANFIC, FANART AND JUST FANGIRLING OF THIS SERIES
Because I absolutely ADORE IT with all my heart.
The other day I posted about the 1987 vampire movie “The Lost Boys”. So I should mention the (Spoiler Alert) twist ending! It was classic actor Edward Herrmann who played the Master Vampire. He ran the local video game store (and probably not the first to lead innocent boys down a path of sin).
Herrman also portrayed Herman Munster in the 1995 TV movie “Here Come the Munsters”.
I wanted to like “The Strain”. After all, it was created and developed by Guillermo Del Toro, the modern master of horror and the fantastic. Plus it was about vampires, a favorite genre of mine. I even made my way through the first season, but it was a struggle.
First, I thought the Master Vampire’s plans was stupid. He wanted to come from Europe, take over America, then the world. So what does he do? He arrives in the most splashy way - needlessly alerting others of his arrival. He on a commercial airplane at one the busiest airports in the world, then kills nearly everyone on board. WTF?!? He might as well have sent engraved invitations to a vampire invasion party.
The second and more grievous problem was the design of the Master Vampire himself. I thought he look laughable - more like Krusty the Clown on an episode of the Simpson’s Tree House of Horror.
There there was that scene when the rockstar is becoming a vampire. Since these vampire don’t have sex organs, what would be the best way of explaining that to the audience? How about having the Rockstar on the toilet and we hear his junk fall off and go kerplunk it the bowl! OMG? Then he stands and he’s as smooth as a Ken doll!
I liked Corey Stoll but not enough to watch beyond season 1.
Performers: Robert Maillet & Robin Atkin Downes (voice)
The Grand Dukes Dorian & Tristan of San Myshuno
When the master vampire of San Myshuno hires a skilled mage to act as diplomat for the local covens, he is startled to find a handsome and stubborn spellcaster noble willing to promote peace in the city. Dorian quickly gets to work, wooing and charming the young man until he says I do. Will this be a happily ever after or will the feud between vampires and spellcasters boil over from the scandal?
