It was a perfectly ordinary day in the future as Kai went about his duties, doing a routine patrol flight along the coast of the Earth Kingdom. He was almost falling asleep from the lack of activity when the wind picked up suddenly and began tossing him around in a violent maelstrom.
Then it cleared and he was somewhere else, still stormy, and unable to regain altitude with his shredded glider, Kai fell and plummeted into the ocean.
Sometime later, the soaked and unconscious airbender was hauled onto the deck of a Fire Nation ship and some guards went below to summon Zuko. “My lord, we caught the Avatar.” The soldier said proudly. How was he to know that he was mistaken? Who else would be wearing air nomad clothes in these dangerous times?
