Viridian is home.

And Ravage and Soundwave (and Jazz) are as happy about it as I am.

If you've been reading my fics (and I am still working on them, sorry about the hiatus which is almost over) then you're familiar with Viridian, who is technically not an OC because she is Blackcat, except that Blackcat is a terribly obscure character who appeared briefly in a German language Transformers comic long, long ago, and the sum total of all the world's knowledge about Blackcat was that "he" looked exactly like Ravage except "he" was an Autobot, and was green with red feet, and was very good at puzzles and games and strategy and liked to solve mysteries.

Blackcat is a dumb AF name for a green cat (mentally insert green cat meme here) and so she's called Viridian in my fics, on the assumption that Blackcat is a dumbass Autobot agent codename.

Until 2025 there was only one figure of Blackcat ever and it didn't transform. It was a tiny figure made of plastic that felt like wood and it was part of a GI Joe set. I know I've posted it somewhere on this blog on a couch, where the little green cat is trying to climb into the lap of MMC's IDW Ravage figure who is sitting in Siege Soundwave's lap on a colourful Barbie sized couch.

In March of this year, Mastermind Creations' Ocular Max line released "Shadowfang" which is a transformable full sized repaint of the Ocular Max Jaguar (G1 Ravage) figure. It's a good figure except that when you are transforming it from cassette to cat the back legs WILL pop off, do not be alarmed, just push them back onto the posts till they snap into place. They all do that, and I no longer experience blood pressure spikes when it happens.

It was the sting in the face slap that was being unable to go to TFCon LA, where it was a convention exclusive, and they only made a few of them, not thinking perhaps that half the world would wantt his obscure character. They also released "Linefang" - a Stripes repaint, which I don't have yet. At one point this figure was going for $800.

I did not pay eight hundred fucking dollars for this cat, because I can't pay that much for a figure. But I finally did get her. So here is the adult Viridian. Perhaps she just got back from studying in Iacon.

If you want to know why she's an Autobot and yet has been seen on Sanctuary Station as a sparkling, read my fics. Hint: she's a cat with a tactical mindset, but she has been known to have periods of "elective" (sure) mutism and is a telepath. Do the maths, or don't and just read the fics, her first appearance is in "A Few Small Repairs".

I have every repaint of this figure OM made except Stripes (and I will get him, but he's not as important to me to have as Viridian is, because Viridian is a MAJOR character in Voice of Stanix, which is mostly about Ravage and Soundwave, but also about all the cassette cats and their shared history. OM has made 3 flavours of Ravage (Jaguar), a Howlback (Catcall), a Glit (Doccat) and now Viridian aka Blackcat (Shadowfang) and Stripes (Linefang) and I have all of them but Stripes. And I will get him eventually, but he hasn't even shown up onscreen in the stories yet, because Ravage will not speak to him. (Viridian will, though. Just not out loud.)

One of my current grails for Transformers this year is the upcoming Mastermind Creations Reformatted R53 Tyrantron, AKA MMC’s take on Stormbringer Megatron.

I absolutely love how he looks, and he looks like a really good and really fun figure. Hope he isn’t to expensive.

And if you’re wondering, the premier release of this figure comes with Silver and Black helmet options, though I’ll mostly use the black helmet for him since I’m a sucker for black helmet megatron. Here is what he looks like with the Silver helmet btw.
