How old is it normal to start masturbating?

There really is no “normal”, start whenever it feels good and right. I started at 14. I know those who started at 8 and those who did at 20, and there are those who never masturbate at all!

Masturbation is about making yourself feel pleasure, so really the only time when you should start is when you want to.

i sometimes masturbate, and i find that penetration like fingering doesnt make me feel anything at all, only clit stimulation. is this normal? am i doing something wrong? i also find it hard to get aroused

It’s completely okay to not like fingering, or feeling like it doesn’t do much for you. Most people with vaginas and vulvas prefer clit stimulation over penetration (although not everybody and that’s fine too).

When you find it hard to get aroused, do you mean it like getting into the right headspace, or more physically aroused? Both take practice to get right, and especially with physical arousal it may take time depending on a lot of things.
