And here I thought there wouldn’t be much to update until next week, but once again surprising information has come to light!
Karyukai News
-Former maiko Fukuharu (富久春) of Okatome (岡とめ) in Gion Higashi has returned to the profession! She is now geiko Kanowaka (叶和佳) of Kanoya (叶家) also in Gion Higashi. No one is sure why or how this has happened yet, but one commenter (who happens to be her katsura maker) has stated that Fukuharu/Kanowaka’s katsura was ordered months ago, so an erikae of some sort was in the works. If I can find out more II’ll let you know ^^
-There’s also been rumors going around about Mikako (実佳子) of Nishimura (西村) in Gion Kobu having her erikae after Onshūkai in October. This would make sense as she is now the most senior maiko in her district and seems to be committed to the karyukai lifestyle.
