I just went for a mile and a half jog when it's 30some and windy, so the answer is off the charts.

my ex definitely participated in NRMP this year, but i unfriended him on facebook years ago (and he’s since deleted his facebook) but just for the sake of being nosy and knowing things, i desperately, desperately want to find out what/where he matched.

his school published a list of the locations/programs that his class matched to, but not who matched what where. pretty sure I know what he was hoping for, at least specialty wise, but I’m just so dang curious.

So, today is Match Day 2018. For those who aren’t familiar- it is when 4th year medical students find out where they will be practicing medicine next year. I am a current first year medical student and today this day holds an extra meaning, but also, stress for me. Becoming a doctor has been a lifelong goal for me that I am slowly working towards reaching. While medical student is one of my identifiers- chronic pain patient is another (one that I have had a lot longer). I have battled to get to this point, but on days like today when I am in the middle of a bad flare-up and when match day seems so far away, it can be rough to visualize making it through.

I know that I want to be here more than anywhere else though. On days where it is hard to get out of bed, I do it for the person I was at 16 so hopefully I can help diagnose someone faster than the years it took me to get a diagnosis. On days when I cannot remember things due to the brain fog, I take the mental health day and vow to try again later or the next day because I know how vitally important all of this information is to someone. Hopefully three years from now, I can be in a position where I can truly help make a difference in people’s lives. If I can prevent one person from going through half the struggle that I went through, then this has all been worth it. Then the hours of studying and hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt will be worth it. But, for now, time to study for my neuro exam on Tuesday  :)
