I had a dream last night about what I'm now calling the Starburst Socs. Cherry, Paul, fanta Bev, and a red Soc girl that doesn't exist irl that my brain dubbed berry Bev.

I don't even remember what the dream was about. 😭

But it got me thinking, what new colors do you all think we might get if/when we get new Soc girls?

Does anyone else get frustrated with the costuming for Marcia and Bev? Like there is soooo many different colors for each. The number one rule of marketing is branding, they keep changing the branding. Idc if the dresses are different for different girls, all I’m asking is for them to be the same color. Bev is blue Marcia is green. It gets really confusing when you go to watch a show and don’t see those colors and you have to try and guess who is who. They have nothing distinct enough about their costumes that transfers over to the other colors. Some theatre seats are far, you really think those people in the balcony can make out who is who? No, they go based off color.

Yes there is the argument of: but they are different girls with different bodies. I am not saying they all share the same dress or the same style even, just the freaking color. That would be enough. They are Broadway for crying out loud they have the money to do that.

No other understudy/swing role does this that I have seen (I haven’t checked the Soc boys). For Twobit they keep the core elements, sure the overalls are the iconic bit but sometimes the swing wears the same white shirt and blue jeans, it’s close enough and has the recognizable elements. Steve’s is the exact same costume from what I have seen just sometimes the jacket is missing. They. Have. The. Core. Elements. Johnny has the jean jacket, yellow shoes and a stripped shirt, sure the shirt varies but it is stripped and that’s enough. So clearly they can do it right.

Marcia’s and Bev’s costumes have basically be brought down to colored dress. They got rid of any distinction with all the colors. Ofc you can’t even use physical features like hair because those change out of anyone’s control. You know what can be controlled? The color of the gosh darn dress.

I am a fan of The Outsiders, I cannot tell you who is who anymore unless they are in the obc costumes. Don’t even get me started on matcha Bev. Really? A shade of green? That’s Marcia’s colorrrrrrr.

I’mma stop here because this genuinely drives me up the wall
