Matcha You Beauty
In case you haven't heard, i'm totally obsessed with all things Matcha right now. Having made my pilgrimage to Holy Matcha in San Diego (possibly the cutest Matcha cafe there ever was - see previous post for more).
Matcha tea contains a unique type of antioxidant known as catechins, specifically the catechin EGCg (epigallocatechin gallate) which has been shown to prevent and also be useful in the treatment of several diseases. These catechins literally mop up the free radicals such as UV rays, chemicals, radiation and pollution, which can lead to cell and DNA damage, which ultimately leads to chronic disease over time.
Thus, not only does this superfood seem a good idea to ingest due to it's potent antioxidant activity, but also indulge on our skin. Whilst scientific studies on Matcha in cosmetic products are lacking, many forward thinking beauty brands are incorporating this green elixir into some gorgeous products.
I am currently in love with MYMATCHA stick by Cocokind, and have been using it as part of my beauty regime. It can be used as an everyday lip balm, under eye balm, dark circle corrector, facial highlighter, dry area treatment...anywhere and everywhere! With only three organic ingredients, it's perfect for on-the-go applications.
So, I have found some more products that I think you'll love and give your skin the wake up call it needs. Some of these are US brands - i'm going to try and get my hands on them whilst i'm out here and will review.

If you haven't visited @mrholmesbakehouse have you even been to San Francisco ? This little piece of cruffin heaven sells pastries only, flavours of which, change daily. It is a small but perfectly formed location, bustling with bodies ready to either sample the goods or take some Instagram worthy snaps.
The staff were a little moody, probably not impressed with number of people just trying to take photos of the goodies (including me), but obviously I needed to sample the goods so opted for one of their gorgeously designed boxes which take 6 pastries for $20. The boys were with me and we chose the Matcha Croissant which was a no brainer, Rest in Peach, Chocolate Caramel Cruffin, Plum Tea Cream Danish, and two donuts - Raspberry Sherbet and Blueberry Lemonade. We made light work of them and they were a little indulgent, but tasted delicious. If you're in town, it's definitely worth visiting this sweet spot.

Pilgrimage to Holy Matcha
I made it. I actually made it. How delighted am I to be posting this as the first post of my new style blog !?! I must admit, it has taken me a while to navigate my way around the new platform, but I like it, and I hope you do too. Anyway, having been following @holymatchaa on Instagram for the last year, I have been keen to visit this gorgeous spot and all that it has to offer to us mere Matcha mortals.
Umm, yes I am guilty and practically ordered one of everything from the menu, but in my defence I needed to experience all of the Matcha offerings.... so I started with a Matcha Horchata... if you're not familiar with a Horchata, it's a sweet milky drink made from ground almonds, vanilla and cinnamon which originated in Valencia, Spain but is very popular in Latin America. Not only did it look beautiful, adorned with edible flowers, it tasted delicious.
Then came the vegan Matcha and Strawberry donuts, I just about got a look in with those bad boys, because my sons devoured them in a heartbeat, even though there had been some Matcha resistance from them earlier in the day.
We also tried the vegan waffle, which apart from looking like an exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show, tasted amazing. Then came the infamous Soft Serve, and yes, it's dairy free... in two flavours coconut or Matcha. I had to try them both, for research purposes only. It tasted way better than regular dairy ice cream, what better way to ditch the dairy ?
There was some Holy Matcha merchandise for sale, which I managed to resist, opting for a small tin of their branded ceremonial grade Matcha tea. In addition they were selling some potent adaptagens (which seems to be the buzz word of the health industry right now), by Moon Juice and Sun Potion.
It was a long journey to get there, but i'm sure glad I made it.
