Text Experiments
Testing how I will create lettering - here is a trial using the sand blower and masking tape
I will trial this using stick on letters or a stencil
working in the studio today i saw a bag of random fabrics by my other supplies, but i'd never seen these before. i don't know when it showed up or who brought it in but i'm very very excited to start making pieces with new materials!!!! i've just finished up #72 today and i've got 10 work days until classes start so i'm feeling good! got a lil stuck for a while but my emm helped with that, the last 3 pieces i've posted came about thanks to her material donation. i can't wait to play with the new stuff i've got now!!!!! happy freaking 2k15 y'all
this semester has been short and trying but i pulled through with a budding new foundation for numerous future work.
i've begun exploring material while i explore color and composition and other formal issues of painting, presenting textile works as installations and paintings, taking the function out of the form.
my work takes on myriad connotations, such as tension and anxiety, gender role commentary, and the hovering in between polarized extremes.
