I suspect that one of the reasons that most math beyond arithmetic seeps out of your post-school brain is because of stuff like this. So I have to remember this ‘handy’ formula whenever I come across polynomial cubes that I would like to factor. It’s definitely easy to clear that out in order to remember, say, your mother’s birthday instead.
