Fariborz Karami (of Iran 🇮🇷), Salim Kyawning (of Myanmar 🇲🇲), Jahingir (of Bangladesh 🇧🇩), Rajeev Rajendran (of Sri Lanka 🇱🇰) and Faysal Ishak Ahmed (I’d Sudan 🇸🇩) are just 5 precious names of tens of thousands of beautiful & deserving humans that have died while seeking asylum or taken their own lives on #ManusIsland & #Nauru , Australia’s dumping grounds for those seeking asylum, *cough* I mean, a camp or processing centre as labelled by the Australian government but for the refugees, a prison. As an Australian I’m deeply embarrassed that our government feels ok in treating people this way, some of which have spent their entire lives behind these bars, a place where little to no media has seen nor reported due to the ban of media coverage. Barring journalists from going to #Nauru and #ManusIsland detention camps is necessary to prevent “sharing intelligence with people smugglers”, Coalition campaign spokesman #MathiasCormann has suggested. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the ill treatment and abuse of its refugees 😔.
