Can the werewolf brothers put a mating mark on the mc?
They can! In fact, if you select to have a bond with them right off the bat, a mating mark is the final step to "seal the deal" so to speak. Also, if you're wondering if you can be bound to both siblings, that's definitely gonna happen! For extra drama, of course. Thanks for the ask! ❤
can we pLeAse get headcanons or a mini fic of mer Jota actually giving reader the lil shoulder bite thing?? Can be an already established relationship or maybe Jotaro confessing + giving the mark. I love the mer-person x human concept, and your writing is lovely 💕💕
Imma do both ‘cause frick it, this is something I have been wanting to write for a long time ‘cause MMM mating mark 🤤
(Badly written) Headcannons:
The protector of the relationship is always the one who makes the mark
The mark is always supposed to sit on the left shoulder, the exact position of it can be determined by the mate themselves but it is always in the shoulder-neck area.
Now, upon being marked, it needs to of course be treated to heal. It is also a sign of trust, for the neck is a spot where a Mer can’t reach with their own tongue, no matter how flexible they are. Their mate is the one who has to treat it - and usually it is done in the most loving manner.
With Mer however, their skin is very thick and does not scar quickly. Unless their wounds were unbelievably deep, they usually don’t retain a scar. For if they did, pups teething on their parents’ fins or even accidental scratches with your mate’s claws would absolutely litter every Mer. Instead, thanks to their thick skin, they are usually very sleek and clean looking, with minimal scars.
For mates however, this means that for the mating mark to be permanent and scar over, it needs to be repeatedly done.
Once the initial bite has healed (curtesy of the grooming of the mate) it needs to be bitten again before it can fade.
And this is how it shows the care of the mate. Other Mer can easily see how well your mate treats you by the mating mark you have. For, if the mate just haphazardly bites, the mating mark becomes an ugly stacked mess of teeth marks. It is the mate’s job to make a clean mark, but if they don’t care, others can instantly see.
A mating mark must therefore be handled and executed with the utmost care and love. They need to remember that it does hurt their mate and it is a show of their love (not unlike getting married in the human world).
A mate needs to carefully lay his teeth over the previous mark and make sure it is aligned perfectly, before biting. And then the grooming phase starts again.
Making a mating mark is a long and arduous process. Between every bite the mark needs to almost fully heal before it is bitten again, only to then need to heal once more. Some marks need to be bitten 7 to 10 times before they perfectly scar over, but most sit around the 4-6 range - it depends on the Mer.
With biting a human mate though? Well, we tender humans have skin that easily scars. But the instinct of repetition is there so uh, one might be bitten several times before the Mer realises that - oh, it worked the first time.
Fic/Drabble:
Sitting on the couch together with Jotaro, evening had fallen and you were just watching the tv while Jotaro was leaned against you, languidly lapping at your neck.
It seemed like a lazy action on his part, grooming you not unlike a cat. Though you had been taking note on how often he had been singling in on that specific spot on your neck.
Curious about it, you turned your head to look at him, making him cease his actions and look at you.
“Something wrong?” He questioned but you sent him a small smile, shaking your head no.
At that, the merman relaxed a bit. He worried for a moment that you didn’t like what he was doing. If you’d ask him to, he’d stop of course, but if that happened he didn’t know what he would do.
You and him had been mated for a while and he… he really wanted to mark you.
The Mer wanted to spend his life with you, he just didn’t know how to address the subject of a mating mark with you. He knew it wasn’t something that happened within human culture but he also didn’t want to push things too fast for you.
So he shut his mouth and kept it shut.
Within him though, the urge to mark you grew every day. Right now he was fighting nature and his instincts, and the way he did that was by prepping and grooming the skin where he would mark you.
It was enough to hold him over, to keep him from sinking his teeth into your skin like he so badly wanted, to show everyone that you were taken and specifically, that you were his.
Your hands cupping his face made the Mer snap out of his thoughts, a small blush marring his face as he realised he had been caught fantasising.
“What’s on your mind, fish boy?” You questioned, using that dumb nickname that made him deadpan anytime you uttered it.
“Nothing.” He spoke dryly, making you giggle softly before shifting your thumb to rub over his earfin, instantly making a purr accidentally flow out of him before he was able to catch himself.
“Are you sure?” You teased, now fully rubbing his ear, knowing he melted into your touch when you did so. A small growl left him as he tilted his head into your touch automatically, his eyes closed as well, though his brows were furrowed.
“Yes.” He spoke through gritted teeth and you laughed softly as you could tell he was holding back his purr.
Annoyed that he was so easily swayed, he suddenly pounced you, pushing your back down onto the couch as he pinned your wrists by your head, the base of his tail on your legs to keep the appendages down and leave you pinned.
“You’re a handful.” He spoke with a slight growl in his undertone and you just smiled smugly up at him.
“And you’re not saying what’s on your mind, mate.” You teased, knowing calling him that drove him mad.
And it proved true as his pupils vastly dilated, his lip curling up and showing off his teeth.
“Careful.” He full on growled now and you leaned up to peck his nose playfully, making him pull back with a small ‘tch’.
Glaring down at you, he saw how you finally settled down, your mischievous look leaving and being replaced with something more calm.
Calming down himself as well, Jotaro sighed softly, releasing your wrists gently as he instead placed his hands on the side of your body, making sure he didn’t crush you under his weight.
Now that your hands were free again, you once more cupped the merman’s face, tilting his head so that he would look up at you.
“Jotaro…” You started softly. “You don’t have to hide anything, tell me what’s on your mind.”
“I don’t want to scare you away.” His voice was small when he finally spoke and your face twisted in empathy, instantly wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him into a tight hug.
“You won’t scare me away.” You murmured, feeling him wrap one arm back around you while using the other to still keep himself up. After a few seconds you pulled away, giving him a small grin. “Not since you snuck up on me on Christmas morning.”
As you said that, Jotaro rolled his eyes. “I didn’t sneak up on you, you just didn’t notice me come in.”
“Eh details.”
You chuckled softly at his unimpressed face and your soft laugh made him nuzzle your head while he lowered you back down, staying in that position for a little while in silence.
“I want to mark you.”
His voice suddenly speaking up surprised you as you had almost been falling asleep, blinking a few times.
“What do you mean?” You asked, patience in your voice as you tried to figure out what he meant.
“I want to officially mark you as my mate, Y/N.” As he said that, his hands were softly rubbing up and down your sides. “I’ve looked into it and I believe… it is not unlike what you call marriage.”
“O-Oh?” You spoke with a little crack in your voice and Jotaro lifted his head to see a deep blush on your face. “And what do you mean by mark?”
“The mating mark, it’s a bite. It’ll let others know you’re taken. Show that you’re mine.” The slight possessive growl in his throat paired with the intense look in his eyes made butterflies explode in your stomach in such a way that you didn’t even know was possible.
“Is that why you kept…” You didn’t even need to finish as Jotaro nodded, his eyes glancing down at your neck.
“Y/N, will you let me?”
His question gave you pause. If what he said was true, was he basically asking you to marry you? Only instead of wearing a ring, you would wear a bite mark?
“Mer mate for life, Y/N. I’ve chosen you. But I won’t do anything unless you choose me too.”
Biting your lip, you tried to hold back the emotions his words brought forth. “Since when do you get sappy?” You spoke with a slightly broken voice, making Jotaro softly start to purr as he made you look at him.
“I love you, Y/N. I’ve wanted to do this for a while. Will you let me?”
A nervousness washed over you but after taking a deep breath, you nodded. “I love you too. Let’s do it.”
At your words his purr picked up in volume and you could see the happy glint light up in his eyes, showing how badly he wanted this.
“I’ll be as gentle as I can.” He hummed before leaning in close, softly nosing the spot where your neck met your shoulder, barely able to contain the flutter of his heart and the excitement he felt at being allowed to do this - finally.
“Will it hurt?” You asked with a slight hint of fear and Jotaro grabbed hold of your hands, carefully pushing them into the couch as he held them.
“Yes, but I’m here.” He whispered into your ear, lacing his fingers with yours as his breath ghosted your skin.
Taking controlled breaths, you just focused on Jotaro, feeling his tongue slowly lick over your skin.
He knew exactly where and how he would place the mark, having thought about it so many times already that he didn’t need to now.
“Ready?”
You barely were able to refrain yourself from nodding, swallowing instead before answering. “Yes.”
With that, Jotaro pressed his chest into yours fully before clamping his jaws into your shoulder.
“No…Tai gave me a ring made of silver to indicate our undying love. Told me he wanted to try something different then what he’d done with the First Lady.”
I don't normally promote rpgs, but I have found a highly unique one. Well unique to me. I have never seen an rpg set like this. It takes the whole Soul mates to a whole new level and you get to plot to find your characters soul mate if you wish for them to have one. It's not always about the happily ever after. I currently have a character who hates having her mark.
I highly recommend to at least take a look. I promise you won't be disappointed.
