I am generally irritated that no franchise can be left to just fade. But I understand why it's happening, and mostly hope that whoever is behind the new version goes for a "[franchise] in name only" thing. This was perfected by Matlock 2024 in which not only is it not a continuation in any kind of Matlock 1986, but the namesake series exists within the new one as it exists in our world. I think more reboots should do this, and that we should call it "pulling a Matlock 2024".
