Beast Boy Fancasting
Ryan Potter
Ryan is the perfect Beast Boy. Perfect. His BB is one of my favorite versions of the character. Titans did such an amazing job of casting him, unfortunately they wasted it. Out of all the actors in Titans, he is by far the most underused. He’s a great actor and even with the few scenes he’s been given, he just endears you to BB and makes you want to see more. Ryan just nails all the facets of Gar’s character, while also breathing new life into the role and making him feel like a real fleshed out person - and not just a goof. If only he had been cast as Gar in a better live-action adaptation.
Ryan has set the template for all other live-action Beast Boys, in my opinion.
Marcel Ruiz
I only know Marcel from One Day at a Time, but he would make such a great Beast Boy. He could really pull of a younger Beast Boy, who maybe is bit obnoxious and annoying, and too obsessed with what’s cool; but overall a sweet and loyal friend, who just wants to make you laugh. I also think, Marcel would do such a great job conveying the deeper aspects of Beast Boy’s character, the tragic layers underneath his surface. As well protray Beast Boy maturing and growing up. He really would be a fantastic Beast Boy.
Lino Facioli
I’ve only seen him in Game of Thrones, and in GOT, we only saw older Robin Arryn in the background. But there’s something about Lino that I like. I think he could make for a great Beast Boy. I’m pretty much basing this off on the mere fact that when I first saw him, he was this kind of awkward looking kid – but then BAM! – he had a glow up. Just something about that makes me think of Beast Boy...I don’t know.
Sebastian Croft
He’s really only had minor roles (from what I can tell), but – and this isn’t based on much – I think he could be a convincing Beast Boy. His smile is just so big and infectious and that’s such an important aspect to BB, I feel.
Brandon Soo Hoo
Brandon did the voice for Beast Boy in the DCAU and I thought he did a great job. While I’m not a fan of the DCAU personally; I do think they did a great job in casting Brandon. I’m not sure if his voice-acting would translate to live-action acting, but from what I’ve seen of Brandon, I don’t see why it wouldn’t. I would love to see him do a live-action Beast Boy - he would be more than great!
Tyler Posey
He’s a very talented actor and I think he could do a good job with playing Beast Boy. He has some great comedic timing from what I’ve seen, which is pretty important for a character like BB. I do think his take would probably be different than the Beast Boy we usually see, but I’m not opposed to that. Tyler also has the whole acting as though he’s transforming into a beast/animal down pact. Also that smile, gorgeous and infectious.
BooBoo Stewart
I’m not sure how convincingly ‘goofy’ BooBoo can act, but I do think he’s a very talented actor - so I haven’t seen anything that tells me he wouldn’t be able to do it. Similar to Tyler, I think if he were to play Beast Boy, it would definitely be a different take -- but I would be more than for that. Something about Booboo just intrigues me, and not specifically related to him playing BB, but my lord is he gorgeous.
Matt Bennet
If I’m being completely honest, I’m not 100% convinced on Matt Bennet, but I wouldn’t be opposed to him playing BB. I think Matt could definitely pull off Beast Boy’s endearing goofball characteristics. I’m just not sure how well he could portray the deeper aspects of his character though. My interest in him was piqued, because I’ve seen some pictures of him and Liz Gilles (one of my Ravens), so yeah...
