8/31/19.
There are two Scott Millers in my music life. One is HUGE for me: Scott Miller of Game Theory and The Loud Family. One is continuing to become bigger: Scott Miller of Bagpipe Operation and English Singles. This Scott Miller continues to churn out amazing pop. I was so happy to see Bandcamp refer to him as “Sacramento indie legend Scott Miller.”
Bright Ideas are one of many bands that Miller is currently playing music with. “Grapevines” was released last year on Secret Center Records (I’m assuming Scott has something to do with this label). Bright Ideas have a Kinks meets Matt Suggs meets indie-punk feel. “Come on Autumn” might be his best song since “Little Twitch”.
He is also a part of The Plastic Shoelaces which have a new single (out digitally) that also recall all the bands mentioned about...but I would add Pavement.
Miller’s music isn’t obviously derivative. It’s an amazing amalgam of sounds from the last 50 years. Miller and his various projects have been based in Sacramento for the past 30 years. And by the way, I’m assuming this Scott Miller loves the work of the other Scott Miller.
