The Vision For Datacoup

Matt Hogan, Datacoup’s co-Founder and CEO, describes how the company’s current vision is to help individuals get educated about the value of their data and transact with it for their benefit.  In the short term, this will help people get comfortable around personal data issues.  In the long term, as the company’s Personal Data Marketplace matures, people will be more in control of their data and they’ll be able to use it for commercial purposes or to port it easily from one location to another.

Our vision at Datacoup is to help people unlock the value of their personal data, so we tend to be optimists regarding the future.  By 2016 our goal is to have the largest personal data marketplace on the planet, with our users getting compensation for their information in the form of cash payments, offers, discounts and also insights about their data that can improve their lives. 

Introducing PD16

As a way to help you think about issues you may not be aware of surrounding your personal information, we’ve created a video thought leader series highlighting the current state of the Personal Data ecosystem and how it could look by 2016. Featuring experts from corporate, financial, health, and economic sectors, our interviewees have provided utopian and dystopian scenarios that could result in two years based on individuals being able to control their own personal data…or not.
