Night Time Antics
Polaris doesn’t feel like going to sleep so Remus keeps her entertained. Inspired by that scene of Morgan and Tony Stark.
The curtains closest to the chair was slightly open, letting Remus see the night sky whenever he looked to his side. Remus sat, book open, him mouthing the words he saw on the page.
“Do you know what time it is mister?”, a small voice said behind him. Remus’ eyebrows knitted together as he turned around to face the source of the voice.
The source was his six year old daughter. Her arms were crossed over her big pink shirt that had a small white cartoon cat. Her pajama pants were also pink, but had tiny cats that looked different littered all over it.
“Do I know- do you know what time it is?” Remus responded. He put a bookmark to hold his page, then set the book on the table in front of him.
“I had to pee. What are you doing?”, she asked, walking over to him. She looked at the book on the table, pouting “that seems like a lot of pages”.
“It is, and I’m gonna read all of it to you if you don’t go to bed”.
“But I’m not tired!” Polaris whined. She frowned, grabbing Remus’ arm and looking up at him. “Let’s play instead”
Remus shook his head, “it’s too late for playing right now sweetheart. Tomorrow we can”. Remus knew the chance of him winning this argument was slim to none. It’s not like Polaris had a winning argument, Remus was just really soft for her. Could Remus be stern? Of course. But that was only when he absolutely needed to. Any other time, he had a spine made of jelly.
Polaris continued to pout at him, even whining a little. Remus just sighed at her.
Remus stood up, picking Polaris up and holding her with one hand. Her arms wrapped around his neck as her chin rested on his shoulder.
“Can I have chocolate please? I’ll go to sleep after”.
Any other time he’d probably say no, but once again… spine made of jelly.
“Alright alright”, Remus said with a sigh, walking over to the kitchen and grabbing a bar of chocolate out of his not-so-secret-cabinet of chocolate.
“We’ll share this one, then I’m sending you to bed, okay?”. Polaris nodded in response as Remus sat her down on a chair.

It didn’t take the two that long to finish their chocolate -which Polaris ate most of-. Maybe only five minutes before Remus threw the wrapper away, picked Polaris back up, then started walking towards Polaris’ room while she kept talking his ear off.
“Let’s eat more chocolate”
“Let’s go listen to music”
“You’re being really mean”
“But I don’t need sleep”
Remus just ignored her, opening the door and setting her down on her bed. Remus pulled the covers up to her shoulder before sitting next to her. He wiped any hair out of her face and placed a kiss on her forehead.
“Alright, bedtime”.
Polaris sighed, “but I don’t wanna”
Remus had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. He loved Polaris, truly. She was his everything. But Remus could tell how tired she was. She just didn’t wanna actually go to sleep.
“Go to sleep, you know monsters come out at night”
“Daddy, monsters don’t exist”
“Really?”, Remus asked with a smile, “not even the big bad wolf?”. Polaris giggled as Remus tickled her sides as he finished his sentence. Remus couldn’t help but laugh with her, even when the tickling stopped.
“How ‘bout I read you a story? That sound ok?”
“Is it that story you were reading earlier?”, she asked. Her lips puckered as if she had something sour in her mouth.
Remus chuckled, getting up and walking towards her bookshelf, “no. Not that story. You’re safe”
“OK!”, she exclaimed. Polaris always loved his stories, even if she’d most likely be asleep by the time he got to the third page.
Remus selected a book, then sat on the other side of the bed with the most space. Polaris scooted over towards him and put her head in his lap.
“Ok, let’s start…”
