mauisaurus
tbh i think it’s definitely likely that cryptids are real. i mean, i think of them as just new species that haven’t been fully discovered yet and people that have sighted them are making them out to be Extra™️special. we discover new species all the time and species that we previously thought were extinct. it wouldn’t be surprising to me if someone found a Mauisaurus (or smth that looked similar) and claimed that it’s Nessie.
ghost/demons, on the other hand, i find as complete bullshit
Maui from the Moana movie as a demiboy Mauisaurus. The guy would be so tickled if he knew there was a marine reptile...indirectly, but still! named after him.
RE: Maui’s gender: Don’t look at me, he said it himself. He’s a demiguy.
For @a-dinosaur-a-day‘s pride month.
The modern ocean is a scary place, filled with barracuda, sharks, super-squids, and possibly Cthulhu. However, no matter what we find in the depths these days, none of them seem to come close to the giant terrors that roamed the seas in Earth’s past; giant sea-lizards, monster sharks and even “hypercarnivorous” whales. For most of these things, humans would barely qualify as a snack.
