I've been looking into myself recently, and I've been coming to the realization that I might not be just a trans man. In fact, I might be more accurately a fluid version of maverique. Im not really sure what to do about this, since I've been strongly attached to my identity as a binary trans man and I'm worried that this is just a step to detransitioning or something. Do you have any advice? Thank you in advance.
Honestly, I don't know how that would be a "step to detransitioning." That's binarism talking and it rarely ever makes a valid point. I don't think you have to do an entire 180 just because it turns out you're not a trans man after all. If you're transitioning in a masculine way to fit a binary trans man experience, the opposite isn't femininity. The opposite isn't even moving away from masculinity. And you don't have to avoid masculinity just because you might actually be maverique, fluid or otherwise. You could still stay in relatively the same space presentation-wise. But that's entirely up to you and your level of comfort.
I thought I was a binary trans guy for a while but then realized I'm a nonbinary man. I didn't change how I was transitioning, but it helped me better understand why I felt so left out in binary male spaces. It also helped me relax a little and stop worrying that I wasn't presenting masc enough because a softer/lighter masculine presentation still felt like it fit my gender anyway. Discovering I'm bigender didn't change much either because that neutrois side of me was still expressed in that soft/light masc presentation.
If at this moment I realized I'm maverique and nothing else, I bet I'd still continue presenting and transitioning in the exact same way because that's where I'm comfortable.
Finding where you're comfortable is more important than "matching" your presentation/expression to your gender. - 💙💚
