need some Jewish joy today so I'm going share the cello piece that makes me want to learn the instrument: the 1880 piece Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch.
Bruch wasn't Jewish. He was Protestant, and was introduced to the Kol Nidrei prayer by a chazzan friend of his. He was so moved that he composed the piece, and it's his second most famous piece after his Violin Concerto No. 1.
While there is room for discourse on non-Jewish composition of Jewish music, that honestly kind of melts away when i listen to this and actually hear the words of the prayer in my mind as the cellist plays.
