Miriya (green hair) is part of a Giant alien race called the Zentraedi, she was defeated by Max in aerial combat.
Max (blue hair) is a human ace pilot.
She eventually transforms herself into a human/micronian to try and kill Max with a knife as revenge. But after some shenanigans and a failed murder attempt later, Miriya and Max get married and have a bunch of Daughters. 🤪👩❤️💋👨
I keep typing that as the Bog Escape. Which would be a pretty good episode I feel.
Anyway. The captured humans have hatched a brilliant plan to have Rick and Lisa kiss again the next time the Zentraedi show up to feed them or something, and then escape; but now Lisa has her moral dignity pants on and doesn’t want to.
The Zentraedi discuss their strategy for dealing with the micronians. Bodolza wants to send a spy, despite the danger of exposing themselves to Protoculture. The three reconnaissance officers EAGERLY volunteer.
Who indeed... Also, someone needs to get Exedore a booster seat.
As someone opens their cell (closet) door, Lisa agrees to the plan finally and she and Rick smooch. However it was for nothing because it’s Max! To the rescue! He is a lil surprised to find Rick and Misa kissing but whatever. He puts them in his stolen uniform pockets so they can ride around like hamsters.
Keep it classy, Max...
Despite Max’s very convincing disguise, they are soon made and a chase through Breetai’s ship begins.

Max flies his veritech in Guardian mode THROUGH Breetai’s command center. Dolza is not impressed. They manage to ditch their pursuers but the damaged Valkyrie overloads and explodes. Misa and Lil’ Hikaru are separated from Max and Hayao, loose in the ship.Misa and Hikaru stumble across the cloning chamber where the future spies are being Micronized! Although it’s not clear they realize that’s exactly what’s happening.
All of this seems to be the last straw for Bodolzaa.

Breetai is relieved, and Lap’Lamiz (Azonia) will now command the fleet at the front line.
Meanwhile Misa and RIck hypothesize about the Zentraedi: that they used to be small but engineered themselves into giants in order to fight the ‘Supervision Army’ (whatever tf this is? it wasn’t a thing in Robotech so I’m ?? hoping to get a little more information); and ‘Protoculture’ was the civilization they had before, lost in the process. They are almost caught while chatting, and Rick murders the hell out of another guy, shooting him in the head with a dropped weapon. And then shooting him about 20 more times just cause I guess. Rick pries Misa from the dead guy’s grasp and they get away (again). They end up in a cooling tank (?) for the engines and have a lil bonding moment >.> He manages not to say anything too sexist and disgusting the whole time!
Meanwhile the three spies are preparing to ship out with Azonia.

Misa and Lil’ Hikaru meet back up with Max and Hayao, and they all spot the supplies being moved from Breetai’s ship to Azonia’s, rightly judging that this is the one to hitch a ride home on.
We get our first look at Lap’Lamiz and Milia!
Helllo Ladies! Milia is not impressed with the idea of sending in spies, it’s too passive. Milia decides she will take the spies on her own because the Miclones are too dumb to pose any threat to her. Which... they don’t :v. She rips her way through their defenses effortlessly, then tears a hole in the side of Macross and it’s done.
Meanwhile the humans have stolen a battlepod and managed to escape the ship, and are finally on their way home.

Lap’Lamiz/Azonia and Miliya are finally here! I enjoy Lap’Lamiz’ Japanese voice... It’s not as samey as a lot of the other female VAs.
Lil’ Hikaru manages to not be as much of a piece of shit!
Still one of the most beautiful scenes in Anime. Can you imagine how long it took to draw this AND include all the detail- like the people sitting in the coffee shop when Miria flies by.
