Which 3 people would you invite to a dinner party and why?

Oh man, what a hard question ──if  it were by me I’d just choose the three hottest chicks and be with it, but I know that’s not what you’re aiming for with the question. 

Let’s see, Dill could be one. The guy has issues, and I guess I’m drawn to that kind of people. Besides, he could be pissing other people around with his throwing napkins behavior, what’s funnier than that? He’d be the group’s own jester.

Second person, and let me be basic here, I do need a hot chick by my side when I get to that place, and this one is the actual tough one. I guess the lucky one could be Max. Too bubbly for my taste, but she’s fun. Brinley is a good runnerup.

For the third spot I’d be needing a troublemaker to be my partner in crime, and we don’t really have of those, how sad! Maybe the closest to that is Alex, if I can get him to be the asshole self he showed to be to certain people ──or I could pick Dill’s old flame Ramona for the drama effect, because oh my! I enjoy ex-couples fight and their reproaches. And since we’re on the fight topic, if I wanna go further, Joey, so him and our number one guy could get into another fist fight, we just need to fuel it a little bit.

How Issac and Lillian are related to Jacob, Aden, Leon, Lillie, Max and Alex.

Okay Silvia, Issac and Lillian's mom, Isabelle, Alex's mom and Elizabeth(Liz), Aden Jacob and Leon's mom were sisters. When they were mated they were still close. The Michaels family Issac was born first which made him the Michaels pack Alpha when his father died. Lillian was born a year after he was and she became pack omega till Issac found his mate (Draco or Lucian (in some verses)). The Lonestar family When the twins, Aden and Jacob were born, that meant, since Aden was born first, he is to be the Lonestar pack Alpha after his father dies. Jacob is Beta of the pack and Leon is the Pack Omega till Aden finds his mate (Pero) The Matthews Family Alex is a half breed of Vampire and Werewolf. His wolf is an omega so he can't mark his mate(Hu) but can be marked by his mate. Same with his Vampire side, which is also a submissive vampire. When his mother died he was left with his mothers younger sister so she raised him till he was 7 and then his mothers older sister, Silvia, so he was raised in between packs. He was known as the Omega bitch, the last to get things like food and such. (Hints why he always eats after Hu and the kids.)

Enough With The Wobble, Time To Wabble

Tired of hearing the same old sounds? Does the dubstep ‘wobble’ kind of make you wanna vomit? Well then prepare yourself for the latest in wave warbling: the Wablet.

Createdigitalmusic.com reports a new iPad app by developer Robert Tubb allows ‘wabbling’ of sounds. What does that mean exactly? Well, it involves Scanned Synthesis which is basically

“wavetable synthesis – producing new sounds by playing back recorded wavetable content – but navigates those sounds by “scanning” through pitch and timbre independently at slow speeds. By doing so, it simulates slow vibrations in the real world, and it leans heavily on the way human physical control and hearing work.

The technique was developed by Bill Verplank (the legendary interaction designer – who helped coin the term), Rob Shaw, and synthesis giant Max Mathews (who invented – uh, the whole digital synthesis thing). It’s a marvel both of sound design and interaction, accordingly.” 

According to Tubb, the Wablet is

“the first implementation of Scanned Synthesis on a multi-touch screen. A 2D mesh of springs can be, uh, “wabbled” with the fingers, a path is scanned at audio frequencies and hence gestures are turned into sound. It won a prize at the DAFx conference this year.”

STEPHAN MATHIEU- A BICYCLE FOR MAX MATTHEWS NEW MUSIC FOR OLD INSTRUMENTS (INCUNABULUM, 2012) 

There's a new comp out on Incunabulum featuring C. Spencer Yeh, Gregg Kowalsky, and one of my all-time favorites, Stephan Mathieu. This is a lovely processed piece of  digitalia (a word Mathieu has sometimes used to describe his music, and which I like a lot) farfisa*, cresting on an expansive sound that reminds me of Infinite Body. The title is a nice tip of the hat to Max Matthews, who passed away last year and whose work with voice synthesis inspired the use of "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)" in 2001.

*Thank you to the anonymous commenter who corrected me on my misuse of "digitalia" and pointed out the real sound source. I think it might have been Mathieu himself, which is humbling, though slightly mortifying.

"In 1957 a 30-year-old engineer named Max Mathews got an I.B.M. 704 mainframe computer at the Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, N. J., to generate 17 seconds of music, then recorded the result for posterity.  While not the first person to make sound with a computer, Max was the first one to do so with a replicable combination of hardware and software that allowed the user to specify what tones he wanted to hear. This piece of music, called “The Silver Scale”  and composed by a colleague at Bell Labs named Newman Guttman, was never intended to be a masterpiece. It was a proof-of-concept, and it laid the groundwork for a revolutionary advancement in music, the reverberations of which are felt everywhere today..."

I have been meaning to post this deeply felt tribute to Max Matthews for over a month now. I am embarrassed to say I knew nothing of Matthews, who died in April, until I came across Luke DuBois' lengthy piece on the Times site evaluating his legacy. The innovations in programming language and electronic music he was instrumental in ushering forth make me realize how grateful I should be to take so much for granted. Matthews was, among other things, a mentor to Laurie Spiegel, the namesake of the Max MSP software, and the creator (with colleagues) of the voice synthesis of "Bicycle Built for Two" that was immortalized in 2001: A Space Odyssey:
