"What's that for?"
Max does a double-take at what he's holding in his hand, looks back up at the beautiful man standing in the doorway, and hesitates, "What's--oh, this? The flowers? They're for you, of course. I brought them to give to you!"
Klay tries and fails to fight the smiling creeping on his face. He thinks it's a subtle one, but he definitely miscalculated as he notices Max's reaction.
"What? Why are you grinning like that?" Max starts cautiously, but Klay sees the corners of Max's lips spread wider until he's showing his teeth and almost laughing, matching the goofy grin that's been plastered on Klay's face.
Klay shyly breaks eye contact, throwing his head down and shaking it as he stifles a giggle, "You're just so cute." He couldn't get himself to say that in his 35 years, no one had ever given him flowers before, especially not in the context of a second date.
Now it's Max's turn to look shy, but he extends his arm to give the bouquet over to Klay. Klay accepts, observing the bunch of blue lilies, pink roses, and baby's breath. He wonders how Max thought to pick out this arrangement specifically. His mind wanders and the blush creeps back onto his face as he imagines the man of his dreams looking through all the possible bouquets to find the perfect one for him.

"It's literally a perfect day. Gosh, you don't understand how lucky you are!" Klay isn't even looking at Steph as he observes the sky for what feels like the 10th time in the past 5 minutes and shakes his head in disbelief.
"Yeah? Perfect day for what?" Steph asks as Klay begins to load their bags onto the boat.
"Perfect day to be at the helm! God, you are so lucky. When I took the guys out last week it was foggy as shit. But the sun is out and we are gonna be cruising!" Klay extends his hand out to Steph, "Watch your step, okay?"
"Okay," Steph smiles as he grabs Klay's hand and takes a step onto the boat, surprised at the way it shakes it as he steps on.
"I got you," Klay uses his other hand to steady Steph by his waist. The two make eye contact as Klay's hand lingers for a second too long and they both look away quickly. God, we are like a couple of teenagers. Steph thinks to himself and smiles.
Klay quickly fills the silence, as he always does, "I can't believe this is your first time on the boat, finally, might I add. AND you have the best weather imaginable. You're gonna see what you've been missing, man."
