Max: Hey, I remember you....man!...I’ll never forget the look on that blader’s face when she wiped the floor with me. That blader was you, wasn’t it?...It must be you...you have the same piercing eyes!

Mariam: I like to leave to leave an impression on people...name’s Mariam, glad you remember me.

Max: Mariam, huh?...sweet name for such a sneaky girl!

Max: Oh, I can accept that, it’s how you beat me...that’s the problem. You cheated!

Mariam: I should be offended by that comment but I can’t be mad at someone who’s as cute as a teddy bear. Those big, sad eyes....you’re like a puppy!

Now that we know that Mariam’s birthday is on 26th December (Aoki just made it canon! Along with some lovely art of her), I can just imagine Max dressing up in Santa clothes and singing Mariah Carey’s famous “All I Want for Christmas is Youuuuuuu”...

Like really, imagine Max, in midtown Manhattan, singing that song to Mariam as he tries to hilariously woo her on the eve of her birthday.

Thank you so much for asking this! I was kinda unsure of this ship when I first wrote my favorites. I should've defended them better! They have a very opposite personality and I was doubtful thinking if she'd ruin his cuteness but giving it another thought- Mariam acts tough and bold but she has a soft spot for our Maxie. I realize she's the kind of girl who would preserve the innocence about him (cuz she said she liked how he's as cute as a teddy bear, and that's something she's missing in her life!). Also, she'd snap at anyone who looks down on Max and tries to tell him what to do which literally everyone, especially the PPB All Starz (Rick and Mike physically assaulted him and don't even get me started on Emily's denigrating remarks!) including his own mother at some point. This goes unnoticed by everyone because Max is very resilient, he has to go through a lot of bad stuff just for being nice. It's not like he can't fuck them off if he wanted to, he just doesn't want to cause a scene. (like the time when Dunga hit him in the face he didn't lose his cool, even after he just lost his Draciel in a literal unfair battle!) He needs a strong girl by his side who'd defend him from the cruelty of this unholy world!
