A Place To Relax - Alex Quinn/May Dawson
A/N: Another fic for @soheavyaburden ‘s A Year Of Whump.
Alex smiles when she finds the horse barn. May is cleaning down a horse, her horse and looks relaxed in her jeans and flannel shirt. It’s her day off but Alex has always known May loves her horses too much to leave them. “You look happy…” The comment is mild even as she comes closer, noting the way the horse nuzzles May with a smile, letting the horse sniff her hand before gently stroking the horses’ neck just under his mane. “Hey bud…” “He likes you…” May’s voice is low, slightly husky and Alex smiles, glancing across at May. “I’m sorry about your friend…” “Yeah. He was a good sort…” “Gibbs said his horse was a little… mopey?” “Yeah… still don’t know how he got the horse back on his feet.” “He does that… are you okay?” “Yeah. Mostly.” “Well, if you need to talk… I’m always here.”
Trapped With You
A/N: @whumpcember day 2. Hollis rescues May from an avalanche.
The avalanche comes on quickly enough that Hollis barely has enough time to drag May away from danger, pinning her to the ground fast enough that they survive, buried under a pretty heavy sheet of snow, the avalanche barely missing them, caught by the tree layer above them. May sobs as they wait, Hollis’ eyes focused on finding a way out even as she attempts to calm the slightly trembling Police Officer, smiling when the horse whinnies loudly from below them. They move only when Hollis can dig them out, her sigh deep and soft even as she moves to help May back onto her horse, moving to mount her own horse and follow May back into town. The near miss shakes them both, but Hollis knows May will be okay in time, as long as they keep avoiding avalanches, even when they have to keep checking in with the rest of Hollis’ trainees.
When was I supposed to know this was a thing because holy fucking god...
