The Pálení Čarodějnic/Walpurgisnacht countdown continues with this illustration by Josef Lada
May Eve with my partner. We're going for a rather simple set up this year since it's our first one together.
May eve, the witching hour
To the south
Overhead
To the north
A fire in the hearth, rowan, elder and thorn around the house,
What more could I ask of Walpurgisnacht
Blessed Beltane to my Northern witches and blessed Samhain to my Southern witches. I apologize for the late Beltane and Samhain post, I sadly didn’t get to celebrate this year since I am currently recovering from a bad cold and I prefer to be at my best when celebrating any Sabbat. I will be back to posting regularly when I am feeling better.
~Witch’s Night ~
Within the darkest night
I search for the forbidden forest within me
Which holds the celestial flame that lifts my soul
Guiding me to the holy darkness that is between the worlds unseen
I follow this flame to become one with the night and be free among my ancestors and the stars
Happy Witch’s Night to those who dare dream!
In Germany, Hexennacht (Witches' Night) is the night when witches are reputed to gather for a celebration on the Brocken and await the arrival of spring.
The Germans believed that on the night of April 30 (May Eve) is when witches meet on Brocken Mountain and hold their revels with the devil.
Methinks the night before May Day is basically the night of the devil's sacrament, think about it for a moment.
