since the day that ailee had shared the news with joon that she was pregnant, she had felt like she was floating on cloud nine, if that was how the saying went. she was happier than she had ever been, and well, she hadn’t yet been experiencing any awful symptoms. a little nausea here and there, but nothing unbearable.

she decided that she would spend her 26th birthday, shopping for the little one. well, they had said a while ago that they would go shopping but they both had been busy and the timing simply had been coincidence. however, she didn’t mind. it seemed like it would be nice to do it for the first time on a date she could remember.

as she finished getting ready, she found joon in front of the mirror. slipping her arms around his waist from behind, she pressed her lips on the curve of his back. “you ready to go?” she asked, smiling at him as she tiptoed to peek over his shoulder.

jei was extremely nervous for her first day. she would be an intern, which, at her age, was a little strange. however, it had taken her several years longer to finish her college degree, mostly since she had originally decided against going to college when she was younger. she had opted to get married and work random jobs that she could get with her high school degree. the miscarriage and divorce, though, had gotten her thinking that her life decisions hadn’t exactly been very smart.

she could feel her heart beating rapidly as she stepped inside of the office. heads turned to look at the female before she was suddenly whisked away by the receptionist and lead to a room for orientation. taking a seat, she patted down her skirt as they waited for the ceo to arrive to give them all their opening day welcome speech. it seemed that he was going to be late, however, due to a meeting that was running over.

suddenly, the male appeared, and jei’s jaw dropped. no, it couldn’t be. how was it that the one job offer she received happened to be the company of her ex’s? oh gosh, she should have done the research. how did she even get hired? all these questions ran through her mind as she just stared at him, too in shock to even properly pay attention to what was being said to the group.

lacey was a mess. fame had left her craving something, but she just wasn’t sure what. after all, she had everything she needed, right? money? fans? but there was definitely something else that she was missing. companionship? true friends? she wasn’t sure what it was and she certainly wasn’t sure where to get it.

and so she showed up at church. church was where people made friends, right? or was that just the brilliant idea that she was getting because she was high? that was one way she chose to forget her problems - drugs. it wasn’t anything strong. just weed. enough to make her happy. when she walked in, she grinned brightly, something that she really didn’t ever do unless, well, she was in the state that she currently was. “hi!” she exclaimed, causing some people to stare. a few scrunched their noses at her. did she reek of pot? she wasn’t really sure. it wasn’t like people ever told her she did or not. she took a seat beside a male near her own age. “hi! you’re cute,” she giggled. yes, she was a completely different person when she was under the influence.

taecyeon whined and complained at his best friend through text. why wouldn’t he join him? he was tired of the excuses the other gave, but fine, if he was going to be that way, then he would just go off to the club on his own. he would be fine. it wasn’t like he needed anyone to babysit him or something.

and so that’s how the story of how the 26-year-old male wandering into the club solo came to be. he knew he looked good, but just because he knew didn’t mean that he was just going to give every girl the time of day at these clubs. maybe that’s why he liked having jonghyun with him. it gave him a better excuse to ignore most of these girls.

but then he saw her. a female, dancing in the middle of the dance floor, all eyes on her. well, he wouldn’t allow her to be alone for any longer, he thought to himself as he pushed his way past the crowd and towards the female, boldly resting his hands on her hips and started to dance with her, saying a silent prayer that she didn’t push him away.

( * a few months had passed since eli and soeun’s very first meeting. they had started to meet up more consistently, and eventually, things fell into place and they agreed to be something more than just friends. which had been expected, considering what the ‘system’ had told them and all. she was a lot more comfortable around him, showing lots of skinship, which she quite enjoyed surprisingly. as of late, they had been talking more often about marriage. it scared her a little, but excited her as well. today, they were simply sitting on the couch, her legs resting across his thighs and her back resting against the couch’s armrest comfortably as they chatted ) we probably need to start thinking about venues and timing and all ( * she mused aloud, looking at eli before leaning in and placing a kiss on his cheek ) what do you think?
