any of my followers know how to use arnold renderer?
i’ve been trying to make a plane render with an alpha channel in the arnold renderer. So far i’ve succeeded in making it transparent, but for some reason it renders the plane in white, instead of the colors that are supposed to be on the diffuse mapÂ
^heres the set up for the materialÂ
^here’s what it looks like in the renderÂ
^ and here’s the diffuseÂ
if any of you guys know how to fix this it’ll be appreciated ;-;Â
Going back to add detail to my Proxy model, will probably go back and redo the whole thing later when I have more time though- I’ll need more than a week for that one. (A few polygons are flipped somewhere, so I can’t export this to Modo)Â
Having a couple of issues thus far- Maya will work fine for a minute, then it won’t let me delete lines anymore, and now they’re all orange and yellow and red? Anybody got any idea what’s going on with this or how to fix? I’ve tried closing and reopening Maya already, didn’t work.

hey, i'm a relative newbie (i've been using maya for a couple years but because of reasons i'm still technically in the first year of my associate's in animation) and in one of my modeling projects, every time i resize something using the scale tool, i get "Warning: Non object-space scale baked onto components." and the size changes but the scale value in the channel box doesn't. but i can still use the channel box to resize things manually. not a huge deal since it works, but what's going on?
Thanks for the question! I looked it up, and it seems to be happening if your scale tool options are set to something like “Normals average” while you are also non-uniformly scaling your object. When doing so, even when scaling only X, the transformation is “baked” into the components (aka the shape node) instead of appearing as a non-uniform scale in the channel box.
I don’t see how this will come back to bite you as long as you’re just modelling and have no deformers acting on the mesh - but if you simply RESET TOOL so the scale axis goes back to OBJECT, it will no longer happen.
TO ANYONE WHO USES MAYA
I need help ;A;
For some odd reason, my display handles keep being hidden when I hide a joint and it's not supposed to do that. The handles are there so I can 'see' where the joint is without actually having the joints visible. Do you have any suggestions on what to do?
