“Heck the rain,” Maya says. “Heck this stupid mac and cheese.”
“Let’s go to the bar with Makoto and get into a debate or twelve with our new friends!”

I don’t like choosing among my children, but if I had to, I’d say Maya is my favorite. She is childish and difficult, but she really just loves making people happy. Granted, that’s usually with her spectacular alcoholic creations, but her heart is in the right place.
Maya loves Christmas. It runs in the family - her grandparents were from the Philippines, where Christmas is a Big Deal. Here she is, discussing with Makoto what she’s doing with her house for the holidays.
She’s tearing down the wallpaper and plaster; that’s what she’s doing.
