Copán, General View of the Ball Court
Uxmal, Puuc County, 2014
The Sowden Residence, a 1927 Frank Lloyd Wright House in Los Angles, California is one of Wright’s most important works. The stone façade represents a Mayan style, but inside there’re a lot of Art Deco elements.
The front doors open to temple-like stone stairs.
The great stone sitting room has twin glass walls, and one opens to a courtyard.
The courtyard has beautiful gardens and a pool.
The stone walls are magnificent, and look at the lights.
A wide opening connects the sitting room to a living room with a big stone fireplace. Isn’t the colored glass fixture above the fireplace, unusual?
Next is a gold-walled dining room with a mirrored ceiling and sliding glass walls to the courtyard.
The home was renovated, so it’s not clear if this is anything like the original kitchen. It looks very modern and minimalist, but not necessarily a stunner.
The home is built around the courtyard, so most of the rooms open out to it. The main bd. has the same Art Deco motif and the bed is on a riser for a direct view of the courtyard. There’s a fireplace off to the side, but the chairs are in front of the window.
Even the bath has a view, but it’s a koi pond, and you can actually sit in here.
All 4 bds. open out to the courtyard and there are 6 baths.
You can go out to the courtyard from the hallway, as well.
Check out the silver powder room.
Beautiful room with a huge fish tank, is probably meant to be a library.
Professional looking office.
Beautiful, unusual home sold for $4.698M.
