For those of you who get nervous leaving voicemails, here's a template that may, or may not work for you. I get incredibly nervous leaving voicemails, and found that this works for me pretty well.
Introduction -> Reason for calling -> Contact info -> Goodbye
Introduction:
"Hello! This is [first name/last name].
Reason for calling:
"I'm calling to [your reason]"
Contact info:
"You can reach me at [phone number/email/etc]"
Goodbye:
"Thanks, and have a great day!"
Ex.
"Hello! My name is Roberto Dowdy Jr. I'm calling to schedule a lobotomy with Dr. Karen. You can reach me at 1 (800) YO MAMA. Thanks so much! Have a great day."
I must say that I have had thoughts to harm myself yet as far as I can remember I do not recall ever using a knife to harm myself, especially not to make myself bleed.
Instead I would use pens, markers, glue, paint, and even pieces of fabric to make pretend injuries. And yes I had people actually check on me cause it looked that realistic with quick glances.
I'd use just red when it's a small scratches or non bleeding wounds or maybe actually scratch myself then.
Use a blue/purple and red combo to make a darker red with glue (best with pens) to make a deeper cut look though accuracy is harder to do but eh. Easy to get rid of with sanitizer or washing with enough soap and water as that one tends to be better to wash off so then people don't ask questions.
I must say paint is also very easy for dripping blood. You can draw with it on yourself or drip it on yourself. Or drip on paper as you hold some in your hand if that's a want.
Then fabric. Fabric would be like wrapping. I used ribbon as using actually wraps and bandages would be harder to explain and a ribbon or scarf I could do anywhere and not be questioned too much as I could say it looked cool.
Other things I did but for the feeling of pain is gently push like a pen into skin, not enough to do damage but enough to make it maybe dent at the most. I'd use other things too just a pen was a common as it was easy and if you did it right no one would question it. Other than the fact you are drawing on yourself.
I had a very dull pair of scissors too that like you couldn't even try hurting yourself with. Like people had tried and failed, only to maybe indent themselves that's it. It was like a pair of scissors you can buy and it had a rounded top so you couldn't even really stab anything without opening them and it still was really dull. It cut like really well though! Like I will say that. They were metal btw. But I did have a plastic pair too at one point.
Uh anyways hm... I think that's enough things for now.
... dunno if any of this is helpful at all to anyone. But it's here incase it is.
Hello! I love your scum villain fics! I’ve noticed a lot of my fave my hero academia and scum villain authors also write a lot of what’s called “Batfam” fic I think?
Do you have any recs for how to get into “Batfam?” I have zero clue about DC Comics beyond that Batman and Joker exist lol, but I’d love to continue engaging with my fave authors in their other fandom, especially because by law of association, I’m sure I’d like the tropes and themes used in Batfam if all my faves also like Batfam (^O^)
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like my writing so much!!
Batfam is a whole thing. It'll probably include Batman, any of the given Robins, any of the personas the Robins took on (Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Spoiler), and just kind of anyone directly associated with Batman or Gotham. You could maybe stretch it to include the Teen Titans or Young Justice depending on context? Also sometimes Superman or the Justice League... it gets messy. There are also so many crossovers with Danny Phantom
As for getting into Batfam.... ahhhhhhhhhhh hmmmmmm...
It's all over the place and there are entire Canon arcs that are just... ignored. Also full disclosure, what I know of "Canon" Batfam includes: > Young Justice (HBO Max has it I think?)
> Teen Titans (Haven't watched Go, there's too much random non-action related shouting)
> Harley Quinn Show (May or may not be the actual name of the show, also HBO Max)
> Friends info dumping about their fav DC character
> Commentary/Discussion of my workouts up to and including aerial in relation to Nightwing/Dick Grayson
> My favorite villain/antihero vibe being Poison Ivy
> Wayne Family Adventure (which may or may not be canon? It's on Webtoons and is fluffy slice of life) - I also haven't read all of this
> and reading large amounts of fanfiction / fandom blogs / discord servers
Sorry if that isn't more helpful. I haven't actually read well... pretty much any of the comics. I physically own Nightwing A Knight In Bludhaven Compendium One but I'm all of maybe 20 pages in (It is also an Event)
((I totally get that DC as a whole and even just Batman is super intimidating and/or confusing to get into. Don't feel you need to like... know it all though or have read even half of it. There is sooooo many different versions and honestly, there's a pretty distinct disconnect between canon and fanon when it comes to DC. See: Tim (Robin III and later Red Robin) and his coffee))
If you're looking for great Batfam fan fiction my go to would be Envysparkler
if you want to just go on a whole TikTok/Youtube rabbit hole there's also PandaRedd. I'm not entirely sure how easy it would be to parse what is "canon" and what's not but you can definitely see the waves of his influence in the fandom/fanfiction. Also I just find him absolutely entertaining and a good compilation to throw on when I'm doing static sets

If you're like me and never have the will power // opportunity // time to get to the gym and you live in an area with cracked sidewalks and millions of cars and people, put on some tunes and try to run around your house (if you're up to it and have enough floor space). It helps get your body moving without needing to get dressed and go out and be around people.
