Hello my darlings I have a odd question for you guys...

I'm going to be at Fanx this year with my own table at the artist alley. However I've noticed a lot of the people who sell at these artist alleys sale merchandise such as stickers, keychains, and charms etc.

I'm going to FanX with the idea of selling my comic book and coloring book,

so am I missing something maybe if maybe Comic-Con/fanx is not for me?

I don't plan to have a setup of a merchant I'm planning to have a setup of a cartoonist or comic book artist, just a simple display with my banners and sample to see if my books, bookmarks, some stickers not that much some keychains not so many... mostly I want to focus on me as an artist and showing my stories and hopefully get some new book clients.

So am I missing something?

Maybe it's social media is showing artists alleys full of merchandise that I am not leaning to, maybe I need to look at more info, I just haven't had luck finding more examples of what I plan to do.

Can you guys help me out with some links or perspective, I will be there... I'm just worried I won't fit in with the other stands.

Also I am super social, I've been called a social butterfly, but when it comes to the art department, I am very private and awkward... I don't sound like a confident artist or story teller, Im working on it...

So I'm just wanting ideas and opinions.

Please help me with your wisdom, also this will be my first fanx as a artist, but second time attending... I went as cat woman in the days of my youth, so I missed seeing a lot of vendors... Mostly hang out with the cosplayers and my mama who was a super cute pirate! 😅

Do you guys know that feeling... when you're not a "beginner" artist anymore, and people just. Expect you to be good? Or like, aren't surprised when something turns out well.

Just another personal writing post about my Dark Urge character:

I've been thinking a lot about River's appearance recently, as I've been playing through the Dark Urge storyline (which so far has been working so much better for her as a character than she ever was as Tav. It feels like this is who she was supposed to be all along lol).

When creating her for my first playthrough, I didn't put a ton of thought into her appearance (to be fully honest, she was a bit of a self-insert in the very beginning, but she quickly became her own character and now I want to give her more of her own visual identity), but I've grown a little too attached to it to change anything major. Now I'm wondering if I should, though. I feel like so many people have really cool and beautiful designs for their Tavs/Durges and mine seems very boring by comparison. But I also kind of like how unassuming she looks, too, especially as Dark Urge. In my head I have ideas of what her signature clothes/robe/armor would look like, but alack, they do not exist in the game. That would add to her sense of character design, I think.

Character design in the medium of writing is really interesting, because you're trying to create a unique image for someone to identify your character by in their head. I don't want River to seem generic, but I guess her appearance really isn't what's important in determining that. And I suppose most of the companions look like pretty average people, just with a few... quirks. I've just been trying to generate ideas that will give her more personal iconography.

This post made me think that apart from "you deserve to live" (as it's put beautifully in that post) "you don't belong in doggy heaven" is also an obvious "you are not a pet".

Which throws us forward to s2e03 and Stede and Izzy's exchange in the cabin. When Stede asks or states more like "you sent him to doggy heaven", it doesn't only make Izzy realize that Stede knows stuff he wasn't supposed to. It probably also whacks him on the head that perhaps he (Izzy) indeed never perceived Ed (or as I suspect anyone really) as an actual human being. At least it looks to him like Stede is suggesting that as he doesn't know that Stede thinks it's a pirate term 🤪
