MAYDAY!
At long last (and less than 24hrs before the deadline, my entry for @sparkbirdmusic 's art contest for their new song, Mayday! Not too long after the song was released, I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see a Scissor Tailed Flycatcher (the bird on the cover of Mayday!), despite the fact that it typically resides FAR from where I actually saw it. In addition to the photos I awkwardly took by trying to line up my phone with my binoculars, I also included two paintings directly based on the photos I took.
I’ve loved discovering more Sparkbird songs, Eeeaa!! They are just so *spins* *twirls*!! Calling out MAYDAY!!!
“When a Scissor-tailed
Flycatcher aerial courtship
Nosesdives in a blitzkrieg
from that Whisky Delta
You can tell the backyard bomber
Never helmed a cargo crate
He croaks out undoing and doom
To the wishful safety net
You jeopardized your life to loom”
The captain lives by the sword, and the captain loves by the sword…
but does the captain laugh by the sword?
In 1998, the last book of the original Bantam run of Choose Your Own Adventure was published. ("#184 Mayday!", book, event)
Misheard lyrics from Sparkbird's new single, Mayday!
The real lyric - "Always the fast and never the feast"
My misheard lyric - "Always the Vast never the Veast"
I'm too Vast brained for this 😔
I CANNOT for the life of me get my brain to remember that the French for “to give” is “donner.”
Does anyone have a good Donner Party mnemonic for me?
Je NE PEUX PAS pour la vie de moi me souviens que le mot du français pour “to give” est “donner”.
Est-ce que quelqu’un a un bon mémento de la groupé de Donner pour moi?
