MayDay: Do One Thing for Emergency Preparedness on May 1st
Ideas for MayDay Activities
Create or Update Your Contact Lists One of the most important elements of disaster response is knowing how to contact critical people – emergency responders, staff, and vendors. Make sure your staff members have an up-to-date list that includes as much contact information as possible: work and home phone numbers (including direct lines at work), mobile phone numbers, work and home email addresses, and any other relevant addresses. Staff at many institutions hit by hurricanes in 2005 discovered that they couldn’t use work email or phone numbers because work systems were completely out of commission; those who had an alternative phone number or email address often could connect.
Create or update a master list for key people to keep at home.
Create or update a list of staff members that is small enough to be kept in a pocket or a wallet.
Create or update a list of key vendors.

I think you may be interested in seeing a short film (23 minutes) that tells the story of some of the women who travelled to the International Women's Congress at The Hague in 1915.The film 'These Dangerous Women' will be shown in Edinburgh on Monday 18 May 2015 at 7.30 pm at Augustine Centre Studio, George IV Bridge, EH1 1EL : you can book a place online: http://bit.ly/1Dg66kA. The doors will be open at 7pm to give time to look at the photograph exhibition of WILPF women and events in WILPF's 100 years of working for peace. The film tells the story of some of the British women who travelled to International Women's Congress at The Hague in April 1915. It reviews the relationship between the women's involvement in the suffrage movement and their desire for a negotiated settlement in place of war to resolve international disputes. There will be Q&A with Film Director from 8 pm.
