May Fair 2019 ballroom 2nd performance

Realized by reposting @drinkthehalo the thread got too long. So I am doing a separate post here. (https://drinkthehalo.tumblr.com/post/185010879890/may-fair-2019 for the recap of the rest of the party.)

The 2nd ballroom performance was a part 3 of the Paisley Players. It was then followed by a cover of Donna Summer’s I Feel Love, which was a very dreamy performance.

5. Replica bar band: Kate Douglas (sorry Idk the name of the band)

I didn’t follow much what’s in Manderley and Lobby. If you see anyone missing, please feel free to add.

Don’t forget to bring cash!

Just a friendly reminder that tipping is still greatly appreciated (and culturally expected if you are unfamiliar with American bar protocol) at Mayfair! Bartenders and other support staff depend on tips as part of their regular salary, and a party is no different. These people are working really hard to make sure that we have a great time.  Let’s show them a little appreciation! 

So make sure to tuck some cash away in your costume and tip the bartenders! 

FYI -- the tips are pooled at the end of the night, so I usually just put all of my cash into one of the jars at the beginning of the night, then I don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the party.

Greek mythology reference

In this year’s Mayfair, Paisley Players were performing a play loosely based on the Greek myths of Hades and Persephone.

Hades, the God of the Underworld, was played by Paul Zivkovich; Persephone, Hades’ wife, queen of the underworld, daughter of Zeus and Demeter, was played by Alex Jenkins; Demeter, the goddess of the grain, agriculture, harvest, growth, and nourishment, was played by Troy Ogilvie; and Hecate, goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts, and necromancy, was played by Austin Goodwin.

Do people go full out with their makeup at Mayfair? I wanna do something cool but don't want it to be too much if everyone else is lowkey

Well…just like costumes, we will see people who go for very simple and classic and people who go for all out and over-the-top.  I tend to lean a bit more toward the latter.  I’m not sure how you are defining “full out,” but here are two looks I’ve done.  One is from Halloween a few years ago and the other is from New Year’s Eve.  I haven’t designed my Mayfair makeup yet…but I’ll be doing something a little extra, I’m sure.
