Maypin

Maypin is a travelling salesman who specializes in bugs.

In Breath of the Wild, Maypin can be found at Gerudo Canyon stable. He is unable to cross the desert with just a donkey.

I guess he hasn't heard of sand seals.

He even gives us temperature advice.

He's wearing an outfit very similar to the Hateno villagers, so it's likely he's from there.

In Tears of the Kingdom, Maypin continues to be a Traveling Merchant.

He frequents the Akkala area. I found him mainly around the Woodland Stable and Shadow Pass.

The donkey has disappeared, as he now travels on a horse with a towing harness.

He doesn't seem to love his horse, since he keeps bringing up ways he wishes his horse was better.

He's helping to clue Link in to Malanya, but will this man ever be satisfied with his animal companions?

Yes, I bet a donkey would have just as much trouble as a horse would in those desert sands. Horses just don’t do those kinds of things, like sand and fiery hot places
