Drawing 60/60: Selmie

And we are done, 60 drawings in 60 days, in the lead up to the game’s launch (of course there is no drawing for launch day, I’ll be playing that day).

This was a fun, sometimes tiring NGL, drawing exercise. Had to come out of my confort zone a lot of times, and it was great creating this chance to draw all these different characters.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this endeavor over the last 2 months, it means the world.

New BOTW Ship:

Selmie x Tali

The shield surfer in the Hebra mountains and the sand seal racer from the Gerudo desert.

Reasons to ship it:

They're both women.

They're both champions in sports involving shields.

They both have titles which have a noble title and alliteration with the letter D -Selmie is known as The Duchess of Downhill and Tali is known as the Dame of the Dunes.

It's fun to ship minor characters who live on the opposite sides of Hyrule to each other.

Possible ship names:

Lukewarm

Desert Snow

Sk8r girls

Snow - it's course and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere

Selmie, BotW’s pro sheild-surfer, but as a Rito.

Feel free to notice all the details I transferred from her design...

I’ve been thinking about this for a while... she lives near the Rito, she owns a kite shield, and I just thought it would just add a little bit more culture to the world.

I tried to recreate the Rito’s typical clothes, made a little bit more practical for a sport like shield surfing. This is where Creating a Champion really comes in handy! I hope I did alright ^^

It really could have been great, like throughout the Zelda games, the monsters have been shown to have intelligence, communicate, and even feel love, and then Breath of the Wild comes in and says not only can they speak, they can have full fledged conversations with each other, COMPLETE WITH HAND GESTURES!!!

I really wish they explored that and had like neutral monsters you couldn't kill.

I keep saying this, but it would have been SO! COOL! If Selmie's Spot was a neutral zone because the monsters fell in love with shield surfing on the mountain. Like a Bokoblin, Lizalfos, and a Moblin being totally afraid of Link, but viciously, I mean VICIOUSLY protected by Selmie who one hit k.o.'s you if you try to attack them.
