hi! I'm wondering if you know of any good indoor plants? I want to put some in my room but I'm not sure what to get, any recommendations? :)
!!!! thank you for asking!
Split leaf philodendrons are really great houseplants and are really cool looking, too! They like light, so if you get one try to place it in a space where they’ll get the most light possible. They’re also quite big once they start growing, so if you were looking for something smaller, a split leaf won’t be the right choice for you! When I bought mine at Wegman’s, an old man approached me and asked me if I was buying it and I told him yes, and he went on to say proudly that he had had his for 28 years, and that the best thing to do for them was to put them outside for summer and then bring them in come winter.
any plant in the philodendron family would probably be great! Philodendron pothos is perhaps the greatest plant I’ve ever had. They are really adaptable and are very nice looking (and can handle lots of shade, so they’re great for house plants). Philodendron pothos will stay smaller if you trim back their arms that they like to send out in search for more soil, or if you like the idea of vines around your room, let them grow! They’re very easy to care for. I’m pretty sure all philodendron plants are poisonous to pets if ingested, so if you have furry loved ones (or smaller siblings that might put it’s leaves in their mouths) and you decide to get this plant, make sure they can’t reach it.
My large one started out as a little plant with about five leaves on it that I bought at Shop Rite, and now it has grown a great amount in the past year, and is starting to send out arms to wrap around my futon. I also have a “silver” philodendron (Scindapsus pictus argyaeus) that has almost silver spots on it and is pretty cool looking.
Cacti are excellent indoor plants if you have enough light for them! Remember, they’re desert plants, and they are adapted to live in environments that are hot and sunny, so keep them in a space with sun and warmth! In the winter months, they need to be watered infrequently, as their growth slows (in late spring their growth cycle starts back up, and they’ll need to be watered a little extra). I’ve found cacti are more robust than succulents, but given what they need, both can be great plants for inside!
Baby’s tears are also really nice looking! It’s a very small leaved plant that grows into a small trailing mat. In my experience with baby’s tears, it’s a trial and error sort of thing. I looked up how to care for them on many websites, but each website said a different thing about their care. My baby’s tears seems to be doing well with lots of light and lots of water.
I also have a shamrock oxalis that I love to pieces and is one of my favorite plants! It’s just like a big clover, and it sends up these pretty white flowers very often!! It likes moderate water, and lots of sunlight.
You can make any plant a houseplant if you want to! As long as it’s getting what it needs, it will do fine! ☺️
