Some BNG lists I have been thinking of/seen that interest me
Whenever a new set comes out, there are a few things I do to get ready for the upcoming standard: - Identify cards that will improve established archetypes
- Identify cards from the new set that I want to play with for new archetypes - Identify old cards that help with part II that may have been under the radar. For Born of the Gods, they were as follows: - Fated Retribution; Bile Blight; Drown in sorrow; Herald of Torment; Thassa's Rebuff - Kiora, the Crashing Wave; Courser of Kruphix; Ephara, God of the Polis;
- Prophet of Kruphix A deck I immediately started to work on was Maze's End. I think Kiora and Courser go right into it. Also, I have traded out the fog effects for removal, and also added basics so that way you could Turn 4 supreme verdict consistently. 4 Supreme Verdict 4 Detention Sphere 3 Putrefy 3 Abrupt Decay 4 Last Breath 4 Kiora, The Crashing Wave 4 Courser of Kruphix 4 Gatecreeper Vine
2 of each gate 1 Island 1 Forest 1 Plains 4 Maze's End I was also watching one of the SCG videos, and Brad Nelson came up with a really sweet deck idea in G/u Devotion. I thought about changing voyaging satyr to Kiora's follower, but you cant cast it off of the BUrning Tree Emissary. I also think that Aetherling could fit somewhere. Here is the list he proposed.
Creatures (25)
2 Arbor Colossus
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Elvish Mystic
4 Sylvan Caryatid
3 Sylvan Primordial
3 Voyaging Satyr
2 Courser of Kruphix
3 Polukranos, World Eater
Planeswalkers (8)
4 Garruk, Caller of Beasts
4 Kiora, the Crashing Wave
Lands (24)
10 Forest
4 Breeding Pool
2 Steam Vents
4 Temple of Mystery
4 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
Spells (3)
3 Cyclonic Rift
Sideboard
2 Aetherling
4 Mistcutter Hydra
4 Nylea's Disciple
3 Rapid Hybridization
2 Unravel the Aether
Watching him play with it was very exciting. (By the way, SCG Premium, totally worth it for content like this) FInally, in regards to Ephara. I think Ephara and Prophet go fantastic together. Not to mention now we have all of the Bant scrylands. A list could potentially look something like:
1 Aetherling 4 Elvish Mystic 4 Kalonian Hydra 4 Prophet of Kruphix 4 Sylvan Caryatid 3 Polukranos, World Eater 1 Prime Speaker Zegana 2 Ephara, God of the Polis Planeswalkers (3) 3 Jace, Architect of Thought Lands (25) 4 Forest 4 Breeding Pool 4 Hallowed Fountain 4 Temple Garden 2 Temple of Enlightenment 4 Temple of Mystery 1 Temple of Plenty 2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx Anyway, here are some lists I have thought about. Good luck to those of you guys playing in FNM and SCG Nashville this weekend! - David
So my friends made me a standard Maze's End deck for my birthday.
They gave it to me in a Grumpy Cat deckbox.
So I'm trying to fine-tune my Maze's End deck.
First off, would Jace, Memory Adept or Vraska the Unseen be better as a 2-of?
Secondly, sideboard. I know that Pithing needle is a problem for my deck, so I definitely need some way to remove that (whether artifact destruction or general permanent removal). Monored is also a tough matchup for me, simply because of the large amounts of non-combat damage and the fast nature of the deck.
Any ideas?
What would be better for Maze's End:
2x Azorius Charm
2x Vraska the Unseen
4x Saruli Gatekeepers (rather than 2x)
