RIP to my favorite scene in the books. book!Mensah i see you and i miss you <3
I have been thinking a lot about who Anna Konkles character in the Murderbot show could be and I think I figured it out
I traveled for 20 hours yesterday without being able to sleep and while having a fever so there might be some nonsense in this, but, bare with me.
We know (or are like 90% sure) Anna Konkle is portraying character that is original to the Murderbot TV show. One of those reasons is that we do not have a character name for her. I have seen some people theorize that she might play a merged version of Overse and Volescu, but I think that's not likely. Since "anna konkles character" is quite long to type I'll just call her Blonde Lady.
After getting the new clips from the Apple TV Inside Look video, I did some deep diving (obsessing) into the footage and I think I figured out who her character will be!
So, who is it? I think Blond Lady is a member of the DeltFall survey team. And I come with proof, sponsored by my Murderbot TV Analysis folder that already has 40ish screenshots.
1) Not a Preservation Team member
By now we have a few looks into the Preservation teams life during the assignment. What is interesting is, that Blond Lady isn't in any of the 'slice of life' scenes. See these examples:
Of course some of this could be clever editing and misleading us on purpose (I am a Marvel fan, so I know what the trailers of Endgame did).
Yes, there is a scene she is in with the team later, but we will adress this in a moment.
2) Color
The Preservation team wears different types of work uniforms that are mostly gray with orange accents. You can see this here. Take away the costumization they have done (like Rattihs embroidery) their color is orange.
Looking at Blond Ladys clothes with this in mind, it is pretty obvious that her uniform is a different color - it's yellow. Espeically in a side-by-side comparison like here.
It would make sense for The Company to have a standart set of uniforms that they give to their clients, which they vary in color. I love that tbh.
3) Blood
The most we have seen of Blond Lady has her covered in blood and being clearly traumatized and in shock. I think the scene below takes place right after the DeltFall incident (where Murderbot gets the combat override modul). She looks like a mess, is covered in blood and talking nonsense - which is a sign of trauma.
We later see her in a Preservation Uniform, which seems to be after the incident when the group is back at Preservation HQ. But! Look at her pouch. 1) there is blood on it! and 2) the colored accents are yellow. You can also see a little logo on it, which brings me to my next point.
4) DeltFall Logo
We have gotten our first look at what I believe to be the Logo of the DeltFall Survey. This was shown in the Inside Look and give us the additional context of Murderbot approaching the habitat.
What is the logo? Basically a triange with a planet on the upper left and three stars on the bottom right. Now, lets take a look at what Blond Lady has on her clothes...
It is the little sign on her shoulder. A triangle with a round object in the upper left. I do think this is the simplified version of the DeltFall logo! We see the same thing on her pouch.
I can't tell you how excited I am for this show to come out!! The more sneak peaks we get, the more excited I am. And now I get the additional anticipation to see if I am right with my theory 👀
I wanna hear your thoughts on it too, please! Do you agree with me? Or do you have a different theory?
I was unsure about gurathins characterisation at first, mostly because I was picturing a whole different guy based on the books, but the gurathin/mb parallels go hard. One thing i noticed is that they're emphasising gurathins status as an augmented human more in the show. Something about the "this is no more a machine than gurathin is" feels more weighty with the added hints to his corporation rim backstory. This was also mostly brought on by lebebe calling him a "walking dataport" while threatening his life, dehumanising him in the same way as she did with "you bought it, you own it" murderbot. There's something tasty here i can tell

Murderbot s01e01
its different but i dont hate it
I am so gosh darn excited to pick up the crochet Murderbot doll at work today!! My super talent co-worker made it, and it looks so SO good!
Going to cuddle the absolute stuffing out of it while watching the show! :D
furthermore: i’d like to put forward that PresAux has a communal game of the ancient pre-CR interactive media Civ 5 that’s been heavily modded to last forever. nobody is trying to win. it’s been two years of trading alliances and zero military dust-ups. Arada is playing as Teddy Roosevelt and nobody knows who that is
SecUnit is let into the game and it immediately begins the pathway to developing nukes, just in case the cultural victory route requires some gentle persuasion later on (it does).
gura enjoys the opportunity to actually use the military strategy aspect of the game. he is playing as Napoleon and nobody knows who that is either. ratthi and bharadwaj quietly achieve science victories through mutual cooperation and then mensah has to restart the server when SecUnit nukes Paris
Saw the new trailer for Murderbot
My thoughts:
Sanctuary Moon!!! The "Did you sleep with that bot?" has been bouncing around in my head for hours
Ratthi!🧡Mensah! 🧡
Gurathin is not exactly how I imagined him to be in the books, but this one is a different wet rat of an insane little guy, and I'm living for it. And his black nail polish is dope
I wish Murderbot would swear more
The dialogue is pretty similar to the book, which I like
Will Murderbot have some of those little drones flying around, which also act like its eyes?
I have seen some complains about Murderbot emoting too much, but I think it's actually accurate, because in the books it spends most of the time with the helmet on, so it isn't used to control its facial expression. I want to see the moment where the team asks if it wants to sit with them, and it makes a FACE of stunned horror/appalled horror
At least the show respects Murderbot's pronouns, unlike the half of this fucking fandom
I've heard that this season is based only on the first book, which is very short, so I wonder if they add stuff from the next installments as well? Or will there be some new things?
In conclusion, I made a conscious choice to be optimistic
