Hello everyone. This is Ihsan Hines from My Brother's Keeper Cares @MBKCares. I have something on my heart and mind right now. First off I hope you're doing well and enjoying peace today. To our brothers and sisters all over the world, we haven't forgotten you. The MBKCares team is refocusing, reloading and preparing for the next phases of our mission. The community matters to us and making an authentic connection is key for our purpose. The benefit of the people and the betterment of our communities has always been and will continue to be what's most important to us. October 16th 2020. For the past week or so I've been anxious as this date was approaching. Two years ago from today I had a plan to take my own life. October 16th 2018 I found myself at rock bottom. I was emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually drained. By the grace of God I'm still alive. And I'm still on the path to healing. That wasn't the only time nor the last time that I've been in a dark place. Healing is an ongoing process. This week was very emotional for me while I was reflecting on the past two years. So much has changed. Some of it has been peaceful and some of it has been painful. However, all of it has been purposeful. If anyone out there finds yourself in a dark place please listen to me. You aren't alone!!! You aren't crazy!!! You are worthy of love!!! You are made for significance!!! Your life matters!!! You are loved by God!!! You have reasons to live!!! Your tears are not in vain... Your silent screams will become sweet whispers one day. Hold on my brothers and sisters. Hold on. And if you can't trace God's hand you can still trust God's heart. July is Minority Mental Health Month and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Philadelphia Chapter @afsp_philly is offering another special training for people within the @MBKCares network. "Minding Your Mental Health" training will be conducted by Mary Ann Murtha (Area Director of A.F.S.P. Philly). I will also be present to participate in the open dialogue portion of the training.
