Mbuna cichlids! The big purple guy on the top and bottom is Prospero, 2 years old purple acii. He’s a little over 7″ long, makes eye contact to get my attention when he sees me come into the room and is definitely the Biggest Brightest Fish of his domain. He’s happy to take food from my fingertips, but I feel it when he bites! When he’s feeling emotional, as in the last pic, his forehead swells up and gets pink. His is always pinker than the other big male, but it does expand and contract.
The big orangey-yellow one with the weird lavender blotches is Anne Bonney, call her 3 year old electric yellow/orange-blotched zebra cichlid. When she was younger, the lavender patches were much darker, like an ob zebra, but as she aged they faded and turned lavender.
