Is our MCs backstory mostly up to us like parents and stuff? I'm planning my mc right now and just wanted to know thanks❣ Also, can't wait to read more of this IN it's so good❣❣❣
MmmmmMMMMMMMM having an oh-no-I-could-get-real-close-to-spoilers-answering-these-questions kind of day 👀
So yes mostly in that a lot of your MC backstory is up to you with these consistencies:
The MC has always been a part of Clan Faille'Tor and has spent most of their time in Saor.
They would have had some sort of mentor figure for learning about magic and deals, Sirin looking out for them to some extent, and potential friendship with Oisein of course depending on your choices
A couple big small details that I can't spoil yet, but one of which will def be in Book 1 (Chap 7 or 8 as the outline stands currently!)
Otherwise, up to your headcanon! Also thank you for the kind words and the fact that you've sent an ask to plan your MC has me full 🥺❤️

Luna met Mark for the first time at the Battle of Hogwarts - where he helped her tend to the injured while the fight was ongoing. (I’ll make a specific post about the battle in the future.)
Mark is a muggle-born from London, that was in the same year as Harry Potter.
His parents died in a car accident when he was a kid and his wizard-uncle raised him. He has no siblings or cousins, it was just him and his uncle.
In Hogwarts he was in Hufflepuff. He was also a member of Dumbledore’s Army.
(17 y.o. Mark.)
During the Second Wizarding War, his uncle was murdered while he was in Hogwarts (his 7th year), leaving him with no living relatives.
After the battle was over, he joined Luna as her apprentice.
Since Luna doesn’t have children (up until her mid 30′s at least, though she probably won’t have any at all.) - Mark was the closest thing she had to a son, since he viewed her as a mother figure, and sometimes even called her “Mum.” even though their age gap was more fitting for siblings. (~7-8 years)
Since she was little, Luna always found muggle technology interesting. Her grandmother (from her mother’s side) was a muggle and Luna used to visit her often when she was young. Her favorite things to do were to watch TV and drive her grandma’s car.
Yep. A car.
Luna’s grandma let her drive for the first time when she was only 8 and since then she kept practicing, until the time she went to Hogwarts.
For her 14th birthday, her mother bought her a car (without her father’s knowing), but Luna only got to use it for the first time after she got home when year 4 was over. Luna called her car “Oliver” and spent that summer (she eventually named- “The Summer of Muggles”) traveling around the UK. The car has magical protection around it that prevents cops from approaching it.
“Oliver” - Ford Escort MK1, 1973 model.
Luna was a fan of old TV shows, especially cartoons (she was a kid, after all), and even called her owl after Charlie Brown. In her room, she has an old TV (non-functional) and a stereo.
Due to her knowledge of muggle culture and rules, she didn’t take Muggle Studies, because she found it redundant.
Since both Barnaby and Merula are the children of Death Eaters, Luna asked her father if their parents were among the Death Eaters that tried to murder him during the war.
They weren’t.
Only after she’s learnt it, she was able to truly become friends with Barnaby and Merula’s... almost-frenemy? (I don’t know.)
